I doubt it has to do with that.

He’s very likely to be cut and not signed by another squad anyway if he’s traded, so it’s not like he’s selling his house in LA to buy another house in a different city.

His agent parted ways with him because he thought adjusting to what the Lakers needed from him was the best thing for his career and Russell disagreed. The Lakers may have told him it's their way or else and he said No Thanks and now he's being sent home until/unless traded.

Russ is also an LA guy, so I don’t see him leaving the area completely.

Occam's razor but not as much fun, his home value increased by 45% in 4 years and it looks like we are about to flip from a sellers market to a buyers market, so it might have just been a business decision.

“Sources say Jakob Poeltl and Josh Richardson are the two Spurs players most commonly involved in trade talk,” SpursTalk’s L.J. Ellis wrote. “While the Spurs have dropped their asking price for the utilization of their salary cap space, their asking price for Poeltl and Richardson remains high. For Richardson, the Spurs are requesting a first round pick. For Poeltl, the Spurs are asking for two first rounders.”

Portland is a really good Center and is still relatively young. He's about to get paid though. He has outplayed his last deal.

The whole 2 1sts part is disingenuous though. That is two picks from a contender, which would probably have protections and wouldn't be very high anyway. It's not two lottery picks from a team like the Magic or Pistons..

2 1st rounders from anyone for Poeltl is a joke. On a good team, he is a part time player.

I don't agree. He averaged 14/9/3 on 61%fg and blocked almost 2 per game. The Spurs were decent last year and he started/played well for them. I'd take him over Myles Turner, who makes like twice as much, and is always being rumored to be traded..

The Spurs were not very good in either of the years he played more than 18 minutes a game. I would love him as a backup. However, to even think he would be worth 2 1sts of any kind is a joke.

The Suns are in trade negotiations right now, mainly centered around Jae Crowder, per @WindhorstESPN . Bojan Bogdanovic is a potential target to monitor. Windhorst also relays Phoenix is working on a long-term contract extension for Cam Johnson.

As long is Crowder isn't coming here.

I would laugh if he got shipped to the Jazz

Don’t think Crowder will ever play here after that playoff series and how the fans were completely hostile (rightfully so)

Also none of our players seemed to like him either so think we don’t need to sweat those trade talks

He is 27, cheap and has gotten better every year. Here is a ranking I found.. LINK .. has Poeltl as the 12th ranked Center in the league, one behind Turner (ahead of Val).

Phoenix gets Bogdanovic and Hayes

Jazz get Graham/Crowder/Payne/Kira/Phx 1st/Pels protected 1st

Pels get Jordan Clarkson and Dario Saric

even salaries in that trade all around. we are right at $147M in salaries, tax is at $150M, so that's still enough to give out a minimum salary somewhere, Liddell.

You can go ahed and toss that ranking then, as there is nothing to suggest he's better than Jval.
