No matter what we do, we are not going to be a contender for the next couple of seasons. We need to build good will and a nice rep around the league. But most of all, we need a gimmick. Imagine a team for the first time in NBA history not just drafting 5 players in the 1st round in the same draft. But 5 players in the top ten, then all 5 of those guys starting the whole season as rookies.

For this, we have to trade both Davis and Holiday. Davis to the Lakers for a combination of picks and players (that we flip), that wind up being the 4th and 7th picks (plus future picks). Then we package Holiday to the Hawks for the 8th and 10th selections. We end up with the following..

1- Zion
4- Hunter
7- White
8- Hayes
10- Herro

We would rule draft night and be the top league pass team. We would have tons of space to take on crap contracts and keep building up the warchest. Fans would latch on to the younger players, then grow with them. We will be epically bad and in the lottery next year, plus a couple will probably bust. But that is a fun team to root for and might surprise down the road..

Boy the idiots are out in full force. Why the frick would any team do something like that?

Also, it would be dumb as hell to let Jrue go under any circumstance.

So once Davis leaves and Holiday sees it is a rebuild, then says he would like to be traded, you wouldn't oblige him? No, you want him to "mentor" and waste the rest of his prime years leading a sub .500 team to the lottery. You must really like him and have his best interest at heart.

Why can't we just do a rebuild? You have to tear it down to do it. Its like the last time we drafted a generational PF, then gave a huge contract to a PF a month later and the two couldnt coexist. Or when we drafted, signed or traded for 4 combo guards within a year. Always enough to be in the 25-30 win level..

I am sure Griffin is trying to think of a gimmick.

It's obvious we a rebuilding and it is pretty clear he wants to stay. If he wants out then of course you respect his wishes because he's earned that.

From what it appears, he wants to play with Zion and be a leader in the rebuild. You don't trade people that actually WANT to be here.

No team will ever do that

Even the hinkie Sixers at their height didn't

And in this draft in particular you dont want that many due to stronger drafts in 2020/21 and a possible double draft in 22

Twolves tried something similar a few years ago. But missed on just about every pick. Had 4 in the first round. They took Rubio, Flynn, Lawson and Ellington. They could have had Curry, Derozan, Taj Gibson and either D. Carroll or D. Blair. Easy to say in retrospect, but that would have changed the league in a major way. That was how they tried to build after Garnett was traded.

Its a drastic move, but the concept isn't new..

Also we would be stocked with tons of picks come those drafts. You flips the vets you get and be the bridge for other teams to dump payroll. Plus it would take time for the youth to develop, so we would be a lottery team in both drafts..

Hinkie never had the ammo that we have now. He would kill to be in this spot..
