Any announcement about Zion being out for the year should be expected at this point.

Any news about a Griffin firing would result in Pels fans throwing a party.

What would get Pels fans up in arms?

Sale of team
Trade demand from Zion or Ingram

What else would make fans so upset?

On 5/15, Michael Wilbon said he believed there was a good chance that AD would be playing with Zion after talking to the principals and doing some actual reporting.

Are we sure anything has changed yet? Nothing really happened today.

Is Wilbon in the know? Who are the principals that he spoke with? I seem to think they were in AD’s camp rather than Griffin’s camp.

Generally, I have viewed top NBA prospects for needing their third year before they take the next step and are considered by the majority to be top 10 players (elite of the elite).

It took Chris Paul and Anthony Davis until their third year to become elite of the elite.

Now, I generally have considered the biggest hurdle in achieving this for top prospects is gaining the required strength and body mass in order to become a top 10 player.

However, Zion is entering the NBA already as the most physically developed player. With the said, is it unreasonable to move up his timeline as a result?

When do you think he becomes a superstar player that contributes to winning at a high level (top 10 player)? Third year? Second year? Rookie year?
AD is an elite level player and I believe we should all be in favor of retaining an elite level player.

However, would you view a clear pecking order as a concern?

Who is the alpha on the team? A lot of times, this stuff actually matters. We have seen Wade say that he had to realize he was a beta to Lebron and give up the team to him.

I would think most of would view Zion as the alpha moving forward. Would this potentially cause issues? Can AD swallow his pride?

With Gayle’s new commitment, I wonder if this is a legitimate possibility now. I assume it is. I think the price for an early second round pick is $3 million.

It has been brought up before about trading to move up but are we discounting this possibility if Griffin falls in love with a guy?
All about increasing risk tolerance if your ultimate goal is championships.

Let’s says odds of him staying are 25%, and AD, Zion and Jrue have let’s say 50% chance of making the finals over the next three years.

If ultimate goal is championships, you have to take that risk, right?

I would think the odds of obtaining another elite talent like Davis is much smaller than 25%. But the floor is much higher by playing it safe.

Okeke or Windler
The only reason to dump Hill is if you need space this summer in free agency.
If goal is to win championships, then you have to take calculated risks.

Keeping AD probably gives this franchise the best chance to win a championship. With that said, I think you have to keep him no matter what and continue to sell him and be confident that your vision will sell him over time, if in fact your goal is to give this franchise the best chance at winning a championship.

If the goal is to make sure you get great value for Davis then you trade him in June and this your low risk, play it safe move.

So AD is not adult enough to make a decision himself
Would love Robert Covington on this team is trade.

Not sure how attainable he is.

Keep Davis (opts in)
Sign and trade for brogdon (give up Moore) 4/80
Sign Ariza for 2/18, stretch Hill if need be
Trade 39, 57 and cash to move up to 32 and draft Dylan Windler
Sign Payton
Bring back Kenrich, Okafor, Diallo, Wood

Brogdon/Payton
Jrue/Jackson
Ariza/Windler
Zion/Kenrich/Diallo
Davis/Wood/Okafor
Dylan Windler is a guy I would target and move up for in early second round.

I believe he has high floor of being an elite shooting role player.

Second round, I would target higher floor guys and try to secure the best chance of obtaining a solid role player on a great contract.

re: Is getting Brogdon realistic ?

Is paying Brogdon that contract good value? I don’t think It would be.

Would focus on getting good value contracts with the possibility in mind of flipping for a higher quality player and better fit if the chance was made available in the future.

Signing contracts that are not value assets limits future possibilities.

Best NBA trios over next 3 years

You win big in the NBA based on your top level talent.

With that said, rank your top 10 NBA trios while projecting over the next 3 years.

For this exercise, obviously assume that Davis opts in for another year and then Griffin can convince him to stay next summer.

Also, let’s assume Thompson stays in Golden State, Kawhi stays in Toronto, Butler and Harris stay on the Sixers and Durant and Kyrie join the Knicks.
If AD does decide to opt in, I will enjoy watching Stephen A Smith and Colin Cowherd in misery. Plus reading Lakers fans reactions.

I am sure Griffin is trying to think of a gimmick.

What are your current odds of what happens? Opt in, trade, extension

Does this go against the all way in or all the way out comment?

We want to create a great culture and think long term in the decision making process but I can’t help to think that the entire organization will be uneasy all year with the Davis decision next summer under this scenario.

Having this drama for another season could rub off on Zion.

Also, trading AD now creates a clear pecking order.

Not saying we shouldn’t want Davis to opt in. Just presenting the other side (which is why not ideal). But this is why I brought up weeks ago that Griffin can only sell hope since he just took over. That is why I thought it was unlikely for Davis to sign the extension with blind faith. But I didn’t think the opt in was on the table at the point.
