You need a minimum of 5 studs, more likely need 6-7 to go on a deep run. The lakers look like they're gonna try to do it with 3 or 4.

Maybe they get really lucky and a guy or two making a couple mil plays like he makes 15, but I doubt it.

Bro you still don't understand ...if the pick isn't top 8 in 2021 then lakers keep the pick and we get their 2022 unprotected ..it's the opposite of the original deal. The original deal was if the pick isn't top 8 then we get the pick. It's not that hard.

Unless there’s some reason to believe that the Lakers will be substantially worse in 2022 compared to 2021, I’m not sure that this swap works in the Pels favor. It’s the 2021 draft that’s going to be loaded.

how often do mid to late first round draft picks make a big impact on a team?

Often, you just have to find the right guy. Some guys drafted after #10

#17 Jrue Holiday
#18 Eric Bledsoe
#11 Klay Thompson
#15 Kawhi Leonard
#16 Nikola Vucevic
#23 Nikola Mirotic
#30 Jimmy Butler
#35 Draymond Green
#39 Khris Middleton
#15 Giannis Antetokounmpo
#11 Michael Carter-Williams
#23 Rodney Hood
#13 Devin Booker
#36 Malcolm Brogdon
#27 Kyle Kuzma
#23 Aaron Holiday

That’s not to mention guys like Damian Lillard, CJ McCollum, Paul George, Kemba Walker, Gordon Hayward, Steph Curry, Corey Brewer, Brook Lopez, etc. who were drafted in that 5-10 range. The more picks you have the better chance you have to find those guys.

You have no idea what any of those picks will be next year, let alone in 6 years.

The Lakers are a shitty organization. I put nothing last them.

This is correct and I agree but we have to acknowledge the pendulum swings both ways. It’s entirely possible that none of the picks are good.

Exactly, Davis and rich Paul made it clear where he wanted to go and if you trade for him he’s just gonna leave. Being why Jason Tatum was pulled from the Boston deal. And other offers getting weaker. But hey, In the end we come out with multiple picks and Then 3 rookie scale guys with lots upside. Basically we said ok they are offering the most so we will take back all we can get from them. And then if we want to shop any pieces we got in return we can see if we can flip them in smaller deals for something we like better. Either way we ended up with 3 value players all looked at by the league as potential breakouts that ultimately fill positions we need and lots of good picks, and took back less salary then we sent out. All things that will help a lot now and in the future for a player who publicly demanded to be off this team and specifically LA.

Look at the NBA champ Raptors. Not a player picked in the lottery to be found.

5?

The Raptors did it with... 3 at the very most, and even 3 is questionable.

Cleveland did it with 2, 3 ish.

Something like Lebron retiring?

Also 2022 could be the first year with HS kids. Some are calling it the “double draft” in that it’ll have double the pool of talent to choose from.

Lol, is there documented evidence of Bron being drunk at games?

Bruh, how could you leave out Siakam? Basically the poster boy for late 1sts right now

Or AD deciding to walk from the Lakers next offseason, perhaps.

Extremely unlikely, but if it pays off, it pays off.

Plastered is overstating it but there are multiple articles out there of him showing up to one or more games drinking wine while injured.

Not the look you want from your injured superstar in front of a locker room of kids being called out by him.

Lebron is going to be locked in next year. I would imagine he is going to want to try to show the world who the best player still is. He has a wide open shot at another ring with Golden State’s injuries.

Having said that, 2022-2025 is a different story. Will get interesting considering how poorly run the Lakers are.

I'm not talking about stars, I'm talking about guys that can actually play at a high level against the best competition for a month straight.

Ibaka, gasol, van fleet, siakam, lowry and Kawhi makes 6.

Cleveland had Bron, Kyrie, Tristan, JR, Love for most of those playoffs.

Guys like kuzma that don't shoot that well, don't defend, and don't rebound aren't gonna be positives when you are facing conference finals and finals level competition.
