New Orleans Pelicans
Sending out: Frank Jackson (MIL)
Bringing in: Jared Dudley (NOP)

Here they’re moving out a fairly inconsequential young player for a veteran who could help them in the locker room and on the court, if called upon. Jackson is supposed to be a shooter but he’s just a hair over 30 percent on more than 250 career attempts at this point and hasn’t done much else in his two seasons to warrant blind optimism. Dudley, on the other hand, is an experienced and highly regarded veteran voice who can still defend in short bursts and has made nearly 40 percent of his 3-point attempts across his career.

Jrue Holiday for a package built around Fred VanVleet and Norm Powell. Who says no first?

swapping porter jr for holiday would make them worse not better. Let’s stay in reality
Jrue would not make them worse this year or next year swapping him for Porter Jr.
like you said if we are trading Jrue, then we better be getting something really promising back, and MPJ fits the bill for that. I might consider sending them Jrue and the cleveland 1st as well for Harris/MPJ.
I think teams like Denver, GSW, and Toronto would really value the Cleveland 1st, as well as our Washington 2nds. Those are going to be picks in the 30-35 range in 2021 and 2022, which would give those teams the ability to either move up from their 1st round pick to grab someone they really like, or trade away their 1st round pick for quality vets at the deadline to improve their team knowing they still have the early 2nds to make a draft pick. And those are 3 teams that have done a really good job of evaluating talent in that range of the draft and developing them into role players.

quote:Probably Toronto says no. I love VanVleet, but he is a FA who will get paid handsomely and not sure we should be planning on spending that kind of money on him.

quote:Agree. However, I think Moore is the most valuable player in that trade, so not sure why we would be giving up picks as well. Bulls probably want to get off of Young's contract given his play. Not sure I would want him in a deal. That trade does not do much for me.

yes and Thad has two more guaranteed years. All the guys we send out expire or are non guaranteed. I agree that no picks should go out in that swap.

Thad is getting old. Not interested in that trade

Nemanja Bjelica is shooting 43.5% from three on 4.5 attempts per game at 6’10. For comparison, Melli is shooting 35.4% and listed at 6’9.
I think Bjelica is the ideal stretch big off the bench. He’s been over 40% from three for three years running now. His contract is only about $7 million and we have the right to keep him next year.
We should offer the Kings Miller’s contract, and basically whatever seconds they want. That’s a fringe move that will pay big dividends IMO.

quote:Would love for them to trade for him. However, with Bagley hurt, he has been getting a lot of PT and has shown well. They may be asking for a 1st now. They have a ton of seconds, so not sure they want more.

likely so, will limit buyers.
kennard can play though.
you get another guaranteed year at 5MM and then his bird rights. the dude shoots 44/40/86, but he's hurt right now.

quote:Imagine it would take a 1st along with taking on a contract. However, they do not have many long contracts outside of Griffin and cannot imagine too many teams lining up to take that contract. Kennard would be interesting. However, he is not very athletic nor a great defender. He can shoot though.

Kennard could be heir apparent to JJ...he's that good of a shooter...if he can defend at even an average level he could be a solid bench piece
