Yep. Weaver has to be the front runner. Worked with Hinkie, learned under Atkinson, has international and g-league head coaching experience. Highly intelligent, hard worker, and forward thinking.

In that same vein, I think Chris Fleming is another option if he doesn’t get too tainted by Boylan.

Im %100 sure Nancy Lieberman would make a great head coach. She is not going to be the coach I know that so its not worth discussing, but I dont doubt that any team that would hire her, would be getting a damn good coach. Its still going to be a while before women get a decent shot at a head coaching job(s).

Coaching is more than in game Xs and Os and I don’t think a woman can relate to the players outside of games.

Explain. Im not saying I want a female coach btw, im just curious.

1) Philosophy = Defense. We have 3 potential First/second team all defense

2) PR = Need a coach who will attract nation attention. Becky Hammon is the first that comes in mind. Need someone who actually knows how to coach in the 4th qtr and comes from a team that didn't have 3-4 all stars. We should of hired Jeff Van Gundy instead of Gentry. A long shot is Igor Kokoskov's from UTAH, he is someone who comes from an average team that turned it an above average team

3) Jeff Bzdelik deserves a chance to be our interim coach or possibly our head coach. Fire gentry asap or demote him and let Jeff be the main voice. This will never happen thou!! Chris Finch keeps coming up but Jeff will be light years better and more of the philosophy we need to have with our lineup. I have no problem letting Finch and Bzdelik work together without Gentry to find the best way to maximize our lineup. Just get Gentry the F away from the bench

Good luck. If we're being realistic, there aren't a ton of prospects available who are a certain upgrade.,

I think the replacement will come from the Atkinson tree with a big focus on player development, so Weaver or Fleming make a lot of sense.

There are several other candidates out there with international experience and player development chops as well.

He kind of looks like a Brad Stevens/Quinn Snyder love child.

I think she would be a very good coach, but not a head coach.

I just think it would be very difficult to have anything in common with a bunch of men in a locker room as a woman. Most of these dudes enjoy life and many look at women as pieces of meat, like most men do, but these guys have these pieces of meat throwing themselves at them 24/7. No man is going to want to listen to what a woman has to say to them about life outside of basketball. We are a very young team that needs a coach that is capable of developing players both on and off the court.

I'm not saying everyone would be that way. I seriously doubt Jrue would ever be that way, and he would be easily coached by a woman.

Women are just different than men, and what it takes to be a head coach in the NBA, i just don't think there's a woman out there that could handle it. Guys can get mad at each other and get over it immediately. Not many women are capable of that. JJ could tell Alvin to go frick himself for something he didn't agree with practice and 2 hour later the two of them could be going over game film together in a professional manner and then go eat together as friends after practice. how many women are capable of that? How many men are goign to be ok with a woman hollering at them?

I just think it would take a special woman, and a special team with great leaders, like Duncan led Spurs, for it to succeed. Unless you have the team leaders to handle it internally, she would never get the full respect from everyone. I'm not saying that's right, it's just what i would assume would happen with an average NBA team.

Hell i work in sales with a bunch of men and i've had one woman sales manager, and it completely changes the tone in meetings. Granted this woman was a moron that was fired after a few months. The industry i'm in is dominated by males. my boss just hired a woman and he asked me what I thought about it before he sent her the offer. He was a legit concerned about her ability to succeed in our market as a woman. Between the two companies i've worked for that employs sales guys from Texas to Tennessee to Louisiana, there was 1 woman and about 100 guys, and that woman retired recently. My answer was "if she knows what she's doing, and can talk to fellow engineers with knowledge and experience, then she'll be just fine". But i know that some jack legs will not give her the time of day simply b/c she's a woman, and others will invite her in on cold calls no matter what b/c she's sort of attractive. You can say its right or wrong all you want, but that's the reality of it.

Griff is going to go with someone he knows and trusts, and there's only one name that comes to mind.

Tyronn Lue

Why?

He's had a winning record every year as a head coach.

He has championship experience (twice after he gets another ring once the Clippers win it all).

He knows how to deal with a superstar.

He's young.

Getting experience this year under Doc Rivers (arguably the best coach in the NBA behind Pop).

He is just one guy with previous ties to Griffin I think would get serious consideration, and probably the job.

ETA: Not saying he's my choice, just looking at it logically

I'm tired of the fast-paced system, giving players full freedom to throw up shots from wherever has only worked when that player makes most of them (Steph Curry). The Pels have tried this for 3-4 years and have never come close to looking good at it. It kills your defense and sets yourself up for the other team going on 10-0 runs in 2 minutes. I want to run an offense for once not some version of street ball where the other team has the better shooters.

Get me a coach that won't put up with players not listening to the coach in the timeout and just going out and running whatever they want. Accountability, not a players coach that seems incredulous when his team doesn't do what he tells them to do or blames the refs for his team not getting to the foul line when his team only wants to shoot contested threes.

As far as a name, I have no clue, someone in the mold of Rick Carlisle

I'll go with the edgy/hipster pick: Shaka Smart. Stackhouse, as someone else mentioned, would also be a good choice.

You would be hard pressed to hire someone who isn't an upgrade over Gentry. Even ignoring Zion, the Pelicans have far too much talent on the roster to be 6-16. The fact you still support the man is laughable.

Avery Johnson

-Former NBA coach of the year
-NBA champion as a coach
-Hometown boy
-must be itching to coach again

Am I missing anything? I’d love to see him be our coach

It’s not really so much support as it is that no one can name a better candidate who’s an option. option. That and the absurd expectations and.constant search for a scapegoat, whether player or coach. It’s Frustration and lack of patience. With the hiring of Griff and the acquisition of the Laker parts and Zion. People were justifiably optimistic, but they apparentlyexpected immediate results. The problems will work out over time and with experience. If people want to be miserable and whine until
that happens, well bless their hearts.
