A lot of you seem to feel things are inevitable right now but you guys are jumping the gun.

First, now is not the time to trade AD. You'd be crazy to try and make it happen before 1) he turns down the SuperMax effectively demanding a trade and 2) Boston and their trove of assets can enter the bidding war this summer when Kyrie is no longer on his current deal which blocks AD from being traded there unless it's for Kyrie.

Second, I don't think they'll make a non AD trade until Payton returns in about 1 week to 10 days and they see if he papers over as many holes IRL as he does on paper and did the first 4 games of the season.

The season is not over with yet. The current team with 2-3 starters out on any given night has been stinking it up for sure, but things are so jumbled in the West that getting Payton back will push them back into the playoff race. From there the difference between keeping AD and not is drawing the right matchups in the playoff bracket.

If the Pelicans don't get another starter quality ball handler, they won't do shite. It's all fools gold unless someone can allow Jrue to play off the ball full time

Guys... it's Elfrid Payton.

He'll make us better, but damn, he isn't the fix-all for this team as it's currently constructed.

With all the talent in the draft, this is the best year to blow it up and aquire players, picks and assets for Anthony Davis. He's clearly mentally checked out of New Orleans. He gave this franchise everything he could and the GM surrounded him with role players and G league standouts. Dell ruined this team and he got rid of a damn good coach in Monty for a coach who only knows offense. The city and the fans stuck by AD even with all the criticism of him being injury prone. Davis didn't deliver a championship no matter how great the NBA annoints him.

I'm not saying he's better than a C player, but we've seen before when a well fitting C player takes minutes from a committee of F players that the difference can be huge and have ripple improvement effects on everyone.

Can’t they send Kyrie out in a 3 team trade? Can they afford 80m between the two? Bring assets back from Kyrie, maybe a Tobias Harris package from the Clippers to replace Tatum?

You and Crewz obviously do not know how to properly insult someone with the “melt” stuff. This is a massive day for Pels basketball. There’s a difference between being engaged and melting. I already explained in my quail apology I curse when I’m debating something I’m passionate about and I use caps to emphasis what my point is centered around.

The national guys that have brought this issue up say they want to add AD to a core that includes Kyrie, not send Kyrie out as part of the trade. I don't think I've seen an AD to Boston trade proposal that includes Kyrie unless it's from fans of a team trying to use the AD trade to get Kyrie.

I was not aware they’d be willing to shell out that type of money for both. That leaves very little margin for error and I don’t even think their games mesh very well at all. Kyrie is not a true PG. he’s an undersized SG with a PGs role. Also if Ainge thought he needed the extra time to convince AD to stay to keep the Lakers thing from being a luck, that could play a role. I also don’t know if having AD on the block until the offseason because no legitimate offers came in would be that bad....Philly also knows Simmons limitations and is probably aware of the difficulty they will have again in the playoffs. Maybe they’d offer Simmons of they think AD-less Boston is prime for picking off and to limit the chance that Boston ends up with him in the offseason.

Do you think another year as an easy 2nd round out will make us look like a title contender in AD's eyes?

It’s basically WCF or bust. Even if they make the playoff, there’s no chance they get to the WCF.

Here’s a question for you ATL and everyone else, are you really prepared to risk AD getting injured win 50ish games left given his injury history? The only thing that could make this worse is if AD tore an ACL/MCL or something like that.
