He Probably didn't word it great. He probably more means he likes to have the game come to him rather than force the issue.

I will say and I did say this prior to the draft and on draft night.

The Sengun comps should have never been a thing and should immediately stop. Sengun was 2.5 years younger and came into SL and immediately dominated. That was after he won the MVP of a top 5 league in the world in his age 17-18 season.

Sengun just a better player and athlete. Queen has similar footwork and handling skill for a big, but I'm not 100% sure he can fix the athlete part. He really should look into the program Naz Reid went on after he was drafted. He was a highly touted guy, that kind of lost his way in college, but recommitted and reconditioned himself once he got into the NBA.

I think the word he meant instead of "nonchalant" was "composed" or "calm". But I also think he was overwhelmed and tried to play it cool and came off like he didn't care when that wasn't really the case.

Y'all have to also understand the pressure he is under. Its enough of a weight on your shoulder for a team to trade up for you and have that high of expectations. Its a whole other thing when that trade is being called "the worst draft trade ever" and the entire fan base he joined already hates him for what we gave up.

Queen didn’t look good but I’m not panicking game 1 of summer league. He needs to play to his strengths and dribbling from the 3 pt line is not going to be a strength any time soon. I was impressed with Missi and Fears, yall saw Missi cross that C up and hit an and 1 layup? Peavy will definitely get some minutes off the bench as a 3&D plug in, looks like a great pick already imo.

I disagree, he is the type of player who you want dribbling from the 3pt line because he can actually create his own shot.

He went through a 3 man defense several times and got to the basket. He popped a 3 in isolation and he is also one of few players who can effectively pull off the similar "somber shuffle" one leg shot that Joker does. He also had that great assist to Dickinson. He is the exact type of player you let create space and open up shots for others. He is NOT the type of player you camp under the basket and minimize his abilities and effectiveness.

Considering we have Looney, Missi, Zion who play within 5ft of the goal 99% of the time, if we drafted Queen to do the same thing we already failed.

Hmm, maybe. I just thought he turned it over a ton off the dribble and didn’t look very quick getting by his man, allowing help defense a lot of time to slide. Guess there’s no problem letting him work through it in SL.

In Summer League you really have to look more at the "potential" meaning what they do well vs the struggles. Many summer league players start out nervous, out of sync, and lost. Positioning and timing are pretty much the biggest "issues" for guys in summer league.

If you re-watch the game look how often Queen is looking around or spinning in circles, its pretty much most of the game.

Queen himself is a weird slow/ quick guy which can actually be an advantage because its tougher to defend, especially when he's shooting well.

His defense was really bad but it was mainly positioning and being in the wrong spots. We couldn't even really judge his actual defense because he was never in a good position to properly defend.

People were worried about Missi last summer league because he was either behind defenders for rebounds/ shots and his timing on offense was off. But he started getting comfortable and tightened up pretty fast.

I think it's important to understand his dribble penetration game and how he beats you. He isn't trying to beat you with speed and pure athleticism. You are looking at it completely wrong like a lot of people who never watched him play. He's beating you by setting up counters in his dribbling, his movements, changing speeds, footwork, and power to create space and get you off balance. You saw a lot of flashes of that against the wolves even though you think it's slow and unathletic. It's methodical. Guys like Luka and Jokic does it all the time.

Those turnovers should be considered uncharacteristic of him as he's generally pretty good at protecting the ball and his handles are generally tight. I chalk it up to his first game and he's pressing a bit.

Defensively I get the concern. He's getting back like a Center and not a PF. That has to improved and that's on him. But he played against a super athlete in Leonard Miller and a true wing in Shannon. When he went against Beringer, he was fine in the short areas.

At the end of the day, his offense was as advertised. 13/10/3 on 55%FG considering how bad he played is a encouraging thing.

We'll just have to see how he bounces back the next couple of games to get a good feel for where he's at.

Its hard to explain to people that his most similar play style is Jokic without any immediate comparisons or expectations.

Fast and great vision. Wasn't on the same page with guys at times but that's the growing pains you expect and wasn't always his fault. His change of pace is nasty. Defense didn't look amazing but also not a "liability". For his 1st game defense was ok. His ability to get to the rim and draw contact is very much needed for this roster. (7) TO's from him and Queen but they also had the ball in their hands a lot. That shouldn't be a concern unless it continues through the rest of SL. Overall he looked young but showed his ability and effectiveness running the offense. Had a few great lobs and setups for Missi and others.

I thought Fears was very feisty and borderline strong on the perimeter defensively. He will have similar issues to Jose and CJ in that when he’s the guy at the rim, he’s got zero chance of really contesting these bigger guys. But I was happy on that side overall.

Offensively, he really created a good offensive flow. You could tell when he wasn’t in the game. If Quionnes wasn’t such an amazing shooter, we would have been crushed in those non Fears minutes. Officiating was beyond terrible, and a couple of his passes should/could have been assists but the guys stopped short. One or two were lob attempts Missi couldn’t finish.

Overall just a high energy, quick player with a great handle and feel for the game. I can’t imagine what those plays and passes are going to look like when Zion and Trey are on the other end.

Yeah its wild to see him have such a good game while looking absolutely terrible doing it.

The only thing I though was flashbacks of "Naji Jordan". And although Quinones had a good game and Naji had good games, I couldn't be more happy to not have to watch anymore of those bad nights again.

Please don’t confuse him with #20 from Clemson.

I loved the way they used him. Watching how Portland used Yang at the top of the arc as the facilitating big pisses me off because our dumbass coaches didn't use Queen in the same manner for the majority of the game. Fears getting the team into the halfcourt sets and running an action to get Queen face up at the top of arc as the playmaker and decision maker should have been used a lot more frequently than using him on the block and on the high post.
