Him not being 100% ready and the most in condition on the team game 1 was always a long shot.
People just didn't want to hear that, so they lashed out. But they knew it was true... Zion told us quite literally, and they still refused to believe it.
I truly don't understand it though. How can a professional athlete have a private chef, workout all the time, and not be in shape?

Shel, if you want to see this as my saying that you were right, go ahead
Again, in that thread you became unhinged, I didn't even have a take either way on whether he would or would not be game shape for game 1. All I said was don't assume he will be just because of a couple of pictures and quotes.
You flew off the handle, told me you saw the pictures, your posts made it painfully clear you were bought in and just lost your shite on the idea of taking a wait and see approach. How'd that work out?
And that didn't happen, just like I cautioned you it might.
I said Zion had to prove it in actual games once they started, and you said something to the effect of "Shel's prove it silliness" and how wrong it was for me to say that because to you it was already proven... How silly is that looking right now?

The best players also improve little things each offseason, and Zion is largely the same dude he was in the very 1st game he played in his career. Better pass for sure, but that is something probably gained from experience. Defense...I think he's always had it in him to be a solid defender, it's just whether he tries or not.
So in season 6 now, what are the things we can point to to say these are the things he's worked on since his rookie year that he's had these vast improvements? He's around the same dude, arguably not as good as year 2 Zion. Better passer, but scores less and less efficiently than he did at 20 years old. That's not a normal career arc for a really good player.

Can he shoot from anywhere other than the rim? nope
Has his FT shooting improved? Nope, still hovering around 70%, and even worse in the clutch at 56% last year.
Has he gotten better on defense? Nope, b/c he rarely ever tries hard enough. When he does try, when he's in shape, he's actually a really good defender.
Has his handle gotten better? Nope, consistenly turns the ball over b/c of it.
Is he a better rebounder? Nope, and it's all effort. And i don't think he's a bad rebounder, i just think he could be better. He's played 186 games and has 29 games of 10+ rebounds. Jayson Tatum had 24 10+ rebound games just last year.
Is he a better passer? I think he is out of the post, but it still irritates me that he makes shitty passes when he penetrates all the time. He just throws it to the guy on the wing without looking or caring b/c it's a bail out pass once he's stopped from getting to the rim. Many times he kicks it out and we cant get that shot off b/c he throws it at the guys feet or well off his mark and it gives the defender time to close out.

I'm not convinced it's all effort. I find a lot of his problems are a complete lack of focus. There was one rebound in the last game that I could have gotten just by looking in the direction of the ball. Instead, he was turning his head upcourt to start leaking out.
Frankly, I'm afraid Zion is just a physical freak that may never become a consistent winner. Frankly, the only thing consistent with him is the inconsistency.

It’s kinda all he does. It’s why I’ve tried to make a concerted effort not to engage with him.
Posted on 10/29/24 at 12:42 pm to spaghettioeauxs
No, it's not all he does. His posts that are actually about basketball are generally very good.

Did you forget your unhinged rant in that thread?
You forgetting you said that is the only rational response. If you remember what you said, you would not be able to logically take fault what me calling it unhinged.
You told me my life was pathetic and miserable because I argued we should take a wait and see approach. And now it turns out you were wrong, and my assessment to wait and see would have served you better. Funny how that works, don't you think?

Blatant lie. I said it was pathetic and miserable that you were in that thread only to mock and belittle people who were optimistic and excited about the season.
And that's still true.
As you said just a few posts above in this thread:
quote:
I didn't even have a take either way on whether he would or would not be game shape for game 1
You were just there to laugh at people who wanted to be optimistic about the season. It really is sad.

Just a warning, he will go back and forth for days. Run while you can. This isn’t a dispute you want lol. He still won’t admit how wrong he was about Rui Hachimura.

Yeah, and his insistence on going back and forth for days will ruin the thread. He's done that with at least a dozen threads over the last few years So, I'm done with it here. He can say what he wants about me.

Gee i wonder where i've seen this before. Could it be b/c a certain guy isn't in shape and plays no defense outside of trying to block someone every now and then?
It's not just zion.
Someone posted a break down of the defense in the portalnd game.

was wondering why the Pels are favored

You called me that in response to me saying we should not assume but rather take a wait and see approach. It's not my fault in your state of being unhinged you couldn't comprehend simple and direct statements I made. That's a you problem. You're either lying or you're incompetent but it 100% is one of the 3. I'll let you choose which of the 2 it is.
quote:You know the thread and posts are still there, right?
You were just there to laugh at people who wanted to be optimistic about the season
Feel free to go back and read it. Again, if you are competent and not lying you'll come back and concede you were wrong again.
Nothing you're saying happened actually happened. It was quite literally you and 1 other who got their panties in a bunch, I only posted about a wait and see approach
There were zero posts of mine doing a anything you claimed when you went unhinged.
You're basically still in meltdown mode and denying what factually happened
This place has lost its luster because dudes like you and another who does it all the time that'll remain nameless just tell lie after lie and can't show receipts for any of their lies.

He still won’t admit how wrong he was about Rui Hachimura.
You claimed that Rui would be able to sustain his bear 70% playoff TS%. That is an unassailable fact, you said it
That was already proven false in a big way. But nice try, I guess...

He can say what he wants about me.
This is the disappearing act thing you do when you say your lies, then get asked to show receipts. It is now a trend from you.

Doesn’t matter this team is bad and poorly coached and now doesn’t have a center
