If people are concerned about committing a 2-3 year deal to a guy who is gonna be 36 at the start of next year, you cant really argue there…

Chris Paul is a tad bit older, but he’s always been a better player anyways.

Edit: like it’s said in the quoted post below this, I also agree. Id have to see some contract numbers before I flip out either way, but dude was making like 30mil last year. Why would he come to the Pels unless it was a payday…

I swear they make this harder than it is. But in NO WAY do I condone signing a 36 year old point guard looking for his last payday. Christ that would be the dumbest shite EVER.

This.

This exactly what i said in the other thread on him. If this happens, pretty much shows Griff has no plan whatsoever….

The Jrue argument makes no sense whatsoever.

Even better. I’d much rather be involved for a guy like that than a 36 yo player who’s really just looking to get paid one last time.

Dinwiddie/Kira
Naw/Cam Thomas
Ingram/ Marshall/draft pick (Trey Murphy possibly)
Zion/Montrezl Harrell
Hayes/Nursif/draft pick: Iowa big man

AND you still have the ability to trade Lonzo as well as get rid of Steven Adams while giving up one or two seconds.

You’re not in the red and you are young and can play an uptempo style - that’s what you’re looking to do plus keeping an eye out for that final piece as the trade deadline comes around.

I invite you to google what Dinwiddie just said in the past week or two what he's looking for.

or even MIL (drafted Giannis, Middleton, etc then brought in PJ Tucker, Portis, and then the final piece = Jrue).
The only players in Milwaukee's rotation this season that they drafted are Giannis and DiVincenzo (who hasn't played in the playoffs due to injury)

What are they trading for Nurkic (I'm assuming that's who you are referring to)?

ETA: I don't think your timeline argument is bad really, but I don't think Dinwiddie at the number he's looking for, is the answer. I've already stated in other threads, my target would be Collin Sexton due to the combo of fit, assets required to attain, and potential.

5 year/125 mil. Its in the ballpark of what Lonzo wants and will prob get.

Yea I saw where he wants 5/125 but I doubt he gets that.

Not sure what he’s worth but 4/80 would most likely be my ceiling for him.

I will die laughing if Lonzo got 5/125 (which he can only get from us, fyi).

Agreed and it doesn’t have to be Dinwiddie. I just like players that fit that particular mold: 26-28 years old; mainly a scorer, we can work on the rest; and it’s looking to prove themselves.

I just think that is the mindset you must have to operate out of New Orleans while trying to attract players here.

Edit: and the Nurkic deal I liked bc he also fits that mold: legit 7-footer, can set nasty screens, young, and has a chip on his shoulder, he wants to prove himself.
And he doesn’t enjoy not playing in Portland. Great, come on down. Let’s see how tough our top 10 pick at center really is, it’s time to see what we have in Hayes. (This is all assuming we are trading Adams of course).

The only team he can get that from would be Brooklyn and clearly they are not giving him that.

This board is fricking stupid.

They never really like JRUE HOLIDAY either. Horrible.

Just horrible.

26-28 year olds aren't looking to prove themselves. THey are already proven.

Maybe he’s referring to his injury last year and proving he can get back from that.

But point still stands.

Someone like Reggie Jackson to the clips was a prove yourself type situation.

Paying fricking dinwiddie 15-20 mil plus would only prove one thing. Your organization is retarded.

He’s an extremely high variance role player with an outsized ego, injury history, and very little upside to potentially tap into.

For anyone saying this would be a terrible signing just look at what a vet PG in CP3 did for the Suns this year. If we e er hope to keep Zion we have to win now, not in 2 years. Adding Lowry, even at his age makes us a playoff caliber team and the best part is you don’t have to give up a NAW or Hayes in trade, just money.

Yeah, but CP3's overpay came with a 2 year limit. If it didn't work out he'd either opt out or become an expiring next year to flip in a big trade.

What Teddy has laid out $25 per for 2 years and a partial guarantee on the 3rd year would have this move in the just barely reasonable category. But that's likely not close to getting it done.

Lowry is looking to get paid until he's so bad he gets shoved out the building.

There was lots of smoke with us and Horford and like NoFox pointed out, Philly saved Griff from himself by going even bigger and dumber. We have to hope Griff has some hard limits and there's someone else bigger and dumber out there this time too. I just don't see a way to sign Lowry that is worth it in the long term.
