Some takeaways from last night

Zion is back. Forget the offense. When is the last time you saw him get steals and blocks like that in a Pels uni? His passing was also outstanding. The drive and kick to CJ is gonna be a thing of beauty this year. His FT stroke was beautiful.
Herb is ultra confident. Zero hesitation in his 3 ball. He's gonna be great this year.
CJ and Jonas looked like it was preseason. Jonas, honestly, looked tired. I worry a little about the beat down he took internationally and hope we can rest him a lot.
CJ needs to work with Vinson and get his FT shooting fixed now. It's ridiculous.
Naji omg. What else can I say that hasn't been mentioned. Same for Temple.
Nance - If he can hit 3s, oh my.
Billy is really good offensively and better than people give him credit for.
Graham if he can just consistently hit those open 3s we can rehab him enough to dump.
Jose's outside shot was way off but his drives were beautiful. Nobody's taking his minutes IMO, including Dyson. Find someone else to cut back on.
Dyson's offense is ugly. His drives remind me of SL Herb or current league Austin Rivers. Just weak. But I loved his d, passing and guts. The moment was not too big. He's gonna be real good.
Overall, I'm super psyched about the team.

You started countless threads shitting on Zion
Care to comment?

Not sure I can agree here. While it is not perfect it looked much more natural for him than it did for both of those guys.

I'm glad I was wrong and he isn't a fat useless piece of crap.
I'd argue he was incredibly immature and until the light went on, all the things said about him were fair.
On the flip side, you could say that those of us that were very hard on him, should have been more patient that he'd come around.

nah, just of somebody that was scared to get blocked from behind and playing too fast.
He got past his defender, but instead of getting his body in front of him and keeping the defender on his back while he gets to the rim, he chose to just run fast right past the rim and attempt a running layup from too far away, if that makes sense. I said it last night, it's like he was taking fadeaway layups.
His floater looks good though.
I'm confident he'll figure it out, and sooner rather than later we are going to see him probing the lane hitting floaters, finishing at the rim and throwing alley oops to Zion and Jax.

I said it in the other thread, but Dyson looked like NAW going to the rim.
And the problem is the same. What NAW needed was more muscle to finish stronger at the rim, and that's what Dyson needs now.

Graham if he can just consistently hit those open 3s we can rehab him enough to dump.

I think if the opportunity was there I would be happy cashing in a rehabilitated Graham and pieces for another 3/2 type combo wing ala Hart/Brogdon/Gordon type.
But if he can be a solid 38% three point shooter and not try and dominate the ball and take the dumb pull ups out entirely, I would be in no rush to move him except for the right offer.

The problem with Graham and Jaxson are the tax implications next season. They either need to help the Pels be contenders, or they need to be flipped for a player on a rookie contract/picks.

With Billy and Nance, I see JVs time going down especially if we are playing with pace. JV will be played big minutes in games when the match up dictates. This roster gives us plenty of flexibility and match up nightmares.

Graham/Jax/kira and 3 1sts idgaf make it happen. Josh Hart deserves this team

It's funny/sad, but Hart really sort of is close to that perfect final piece for balancing this roster.
Only person that might be slightly better would be Brogdon, but he also cant stay healthy so give me Hart with his Portland shooting.

I don’t fully agree especially with all the quality wings we already have on the roster. Hart would be nice to have but that final piece the Pelicans needed to compete for a championship is what we saw from Devonte Graham as the 6th man last night. If Graham can give you that relatively consistently throughout the year, we will be fighting for the top seed.

I shouldn’t have been drinking at 4:00pm but this was freshly off the 1-12 start and they announce our franchise player is out for the season. It wasn’t my finest hour. I’ve been a fan of the franchise since they moved to the city. They fricking hired Stan Van Gundy and our new coach was 1-12. Not exactly any reason for optimism.

Graham as the 6th man last night.
The problem is that he was best playing off others, and given our roster construction that places him with a lot of other smaller guards. Which then means you are giving up length or defense.
CJ/Graham was a sieve last season, Graham/Jose gives up a ton of length, Graham with BI/Herb/Trey makes sense, but you'd then imagine Graham taking on more facilitation duties you'd prefer him to not.
But like I said, if we get mostly good Graham, it's not a player i'd be rushing to get off of. Just think that Gordon/Brogdon/Hart archetype is the more natural fit for what we have.

Agreed. He plays most of the season like he did last night, he's staying
