re: So Griff is really not going to do anything else?

PG: Graham/Kira
SG: NAW/Naji/Temple/Didi
SF: BI/Hart/Satoransky/Murphy
PF: Zion/Wenyen
C: JV/Hayes/Billy
That’s 15 but we need a stretch 4 would have love it to be McDermott but that’s gone so we need to find a good shooting 4 for cheap somewhere. We might let Billy and Wenyen still walk too along with Hart although I hope not.

Still hoping against all hope that somehow Lauri ends up here

I think we have a bit more time than 11:00am tomorrow if we can convince Memphis to push it back some because neither team plays their first SL game until Monday. I doubt it goes that long but I'm sure both teams could work it out to have a little more time to get something done.

Nah I feel like it was pretty clear about 36-48 hours ago that nothing else was going to happen and that’s why I began a pre melt. Griff got caught with his pants down and he really has no allies in the league to bail him out and try and make a beneficial deal for both sides.
Someone mentioned Memphis not doing anything.
The reason why they couldn’t do anything is the deal they made with us. They sacrificed cap flexibility for a higher draft pick and our future protected first. Now, you can argue it didn’t work out for them bc they drafted fricking Zaire, but they basically signaled that they were going to pass on free agency the second they did that deal with us.
Vs, one of the top 2-3 reasons we did the deal with Memphis was to get extra cap space and also massive additional cap flexibility by being able to funnel other potential transactions through the Memphis deal. But we struck out on actually achieving that part of the plan and all of the flexibility that we worked for and prioritized is essentially pissed down the drain, similar to the assets spent on favors, adams, getting off of Adams and Bled, selling late on Lonzo, Hart and Redick, and letting Christian Wood out of the building due to favoring Kenrich and Okafor over him.
All of these things individually don’t mean much. But when 8-10-12-15 minor mistakes are combined over a period of 2 years, we go from being in a legitimate draft pick battle with OKC to being slightly above league average in draft assets and still only having an average overall roster to show for it.

Memphis is playing in both SLC SL and Vegas apparently.

It's only one mistake, he miscalculated the market, most likely because of his optimism bias. The same optimism bias that made him blow last offseason too.
Even if he salvages this it's probably good that the national media ran him down hard. Maybe that will get Lauscha's attention. I don't think they need to clean house but I do feel like behind the scenes something needs to change. Maybe give more responsibility to Langdon, or bring in a baby sitter like when they made Demps hire Ferry.

The issue with GMs like Griffin are the fact that they literally think they are the reason for their team’s championship runs when in fact it was in spite of them.
If not for LeBron returning to Cleveland, and then Love nudging his way there and the pick of having multiple years with the.l number one pick before that where they hit on 1 of 3, Griff had little to do with it. Hell the coach he hired was pushed out and replaced with someone LeBron pushed for.
The fact remains, Griffin is an outright awful GM, and the fact the Pels hired hi. Shows their incompetence at the top with Benson and Mickey. Literallly, the only good moves he made are still questionable. Trading 4 for 10 and 17 stills has the jury out. They could have a strong young point already playing well if they stayed at 4 or Hunter.
Moves last summer were al atrocious and cost even more to counteract.
Literally nothing positive came from last offseason. Literally nothing. Kira barely even played this season and now you are bringing in others that likely stunt his growth.

Agreed! As for the rest of your rant, I can hardly agree with any of it...

Satoransky is a point guard, not a 3

The 8-10-12-15 was more referring to the decisions over the past 2 years, including this free agency period. I think that’s where my and many others overall juxtaposition about Griff has declined rapidly. It’s an accumulation effect. He rarely makes 1 move so bad that it’s completely unjustifiable, but he doesn’t maximize enough of his deals to the point where it results in a butterfly effect and all of those minor to moderate mistakes added to one another makes it feel like he really doesn’t know what he is doing 85% of the time. It’s frustrating. Like, we very well might be decent next year, but any GM with Zion and AD and Jrue trade hauls can stumble into being decent.
Posted on 8/5/21 at 11:31 pm to 3PieceSpicy
His Jrue trade haul has been a net negative so far. Hopefully that turns around soon.

Umm, well you really won’t know how that trade turned out for probably a couple years. I don’t see him trading those picks for a while, especially now that the Bucks won. Those picks are at their lowest value right now.

First off, Griff is not the GM, Langdon is. With that said, Mickey Loomis was the best POBO that we ever had...change my mind

He can play 1-3, especially in bench units.

The Willy signing makes me discouraged that we will see anything of substance added to the Memphis trade. The last 2 signings have been Willy and Didi. Seems to just filling the bottom of the roster now.
Posted on 8/6/21 at 9:01 am to NOSHAU
Surprised Griff could even convince Willy and Didi to take our money

He would like only play 1/2 for us.

So this piece of shite really is not going to do anything else? If it wasn't so sad, it would be impressive.
Posted on 8/6/21 at 1:20 pm to Mulkey Man
And what is left of that trade to make it positive? Basically a late 1st rounder which is almost the same as an early 2nd rounder in the future?
