If Zion has been seeing the team doctors at any regularity, wouldn't they know his weight already?

I don’t think it being “a team doctor” allows them to disclose any and all information to the team. Confidentiality still exists. I would assume this has more to do with the communication of the information and subsequent use of it than the actual “i won’t step in scale at doctor” part of it

If being out of shape and overweight wasn’t enough to embarrass you, imagine having your step father control your every move as a grown man. Pathetic.

Zion's stepfather

100% the problem. Unfortunately won’t get rid of him until next contract with next team.

Also with Zion it’s not just stepfather but many other losers hanging around and using the kid as their meal ticket.

Right. What Skip is saying makes no sense whatsoever.

But it kinda does...

I'll put on my tinfoil hat for a second.

FO is pissed at Zion's camp, says he's ready to play, said a short while ago he'd be playing by now, they still want him to play even if it's limited minutes to start out. Teammates want him to play even if it's limited minutes to start out. FO let's Jen leak that info to Skip to put pressure on Zion's camp to let him play. Zion's camp thinks they're doing him a favor by protecting him from getting shite for being out of shape when in reality they're making him look like a coddled jackass who let's them run his life.

It's about the only logical explanation I can come up with as part of the reason we were told he'd be returning soon only to do a full 180 saying they don't expect him to return with zero explanation offered.

Actually, it does. Skip mentioned them weighing him. The weight clause allows them to weigh him weekly; and team has been enforcing that aspect of it in terms of pushing him to get in shape.

Yes, it only cost him money if waived. But sounds like they are upset they keep enforcing clause to make him weigh.

They can be as mad as they want but at the end of the day, they agreed to it and that's what accountability looks like.

No. Skip said Zion's people claim he's 99 per cent healthy and they won't let him play until he's 100 per cent healthy. In other words it's a BS ploy to get Zion out of New Orleans.

The facts are pretty easy to follow:

Zion is not at needed weight
Zion’s guarantees are dependent on that weight
Zions team won’t let him play at less than 100% with his guaranteed money in jeopardy

It’s extremely selfish of Zion for sure, but you can see how they got there. I feel like the Pelicans probably have the legal capability to not reduce Zions guarantees, but knowing this organization, they are going to draw a hard line at money.

And here we sit, a superstar unable to take care of himself or put others first, and a team either too proud or too cheap to bend.

And the fans pay for it like usual.

Is Zion's camp unhappy with the contract they signed? Sure, I can believe that. Is Zion blindly obeying his stepdad and actually going to sit out of playoff/in games because his stepdad is in some pissing match with Griff? No, I do not believe that. This is hurting Zion and his brand more than it's hurting the Pels.

If he told zion not to play because he’s mad at griff and potentially trying to push their way out of New Orleans, zion is going to do it.

Lol if you don’t believe that

If this is really the issue, #FreeZion. The only way he'll get into basketball shape is to play basketball. This is true for every sport which is why the beginning of every sports season is generally when most players are out of shape.

Skip Bayless just said that he's been told that Zion's stepfather is holding him out because they are unhappy with the clause that allows Pelicans to weigh Zion (to make certain weight requirements).

Skip had the dumbest take of all the takes on a sports argument...I'm shocked.

I 100% disagree with you. Zion is stuck behind a wall of incompetence, stupidity, selfishness, and manipulation that is his support system.

We’ve had to deal with problems concerning the stepfather before. Numerous times. Never once have we been grateful for the wisdom and attitude of the parents.

It’s the elephant in the room.

What is that reason?
