Are you trying to call Zion a Panini and insinuating that he is going to go back to college and play Nose Tackle snaps for Nick Saban?

Not sure Bama could afford him...even WITH their fairly large payroll.

Pels’ GLeague/Assistant coach is going to join Nate Oats staff at Alabama. Guaranteed drafting from Bama in 2024?

quote:

Ryan Pannone, an assistant coach for the New Orleans Pelicans, is in talks to join the Crimson Tide in the same role, BamaOnLine has confirmed. Pannone was promoted to the Pelicans coaching staff for the 2022-23 season after leading the franchise’s G League team – first named the Erie BayHawks before becoming the Birmingham Squadron – from 2019-22. With New Orleans’ season ending in Wednesday’s play-in game, Pannone was available for hire.

Would this not be a demotion? I really don't know how NCAA/NBA salaries compare. Is this some much-needed staff shakeup?

He probably saw the writing on the wall and left. I won't be surprised see more assistants going their separate ways or outright getting canned in the coming weeks. They absolutely need to shake up the staff around Green.

Pannone was probably low man on the totem pole. Last year he was coaching the GLeague team. I assume he’s going to be a high level assistant at Alabama. The article said some of Oats’ assistants were poached for promotions.

If this registers as anything at all I’d say it’s brain drain more than a shake up. He was highly regarded, that’s why the Pels promoted him this year.
