Sounds like I'll be posing as a Clippers fan, tweeting at CP3 and calling him out for getting the best coach in our franchise's history fired.

Never let him forget. At least not until he signs somewhere.

My board for the Pels (not my overall board) goes a little something like this:

McLemore
Porter
Olandipo
McCollum
Burke
Len

6 deep is enough.

McNamara has been tweeting about CP3 this morning and I pretty much agree with everything he said.

CP3's knee issues are going to decide where he is going to go. He'll either choose job security, and re-sign with LAC, because he can get the super max deal there. Or winning is his priority and he'll go somewhere he can win a title now, not in 2-3 years (which rules us out unfortunately).

A line up of:

Hopefully healthy CP3/Vasquez
Hopefully healthy EG/Rivers
????????/Miller
Davis/Anderson/Smiht
Lopez/Len

is a good start, but would need a couple years to come together and we'd still be a SF away from being a competitor

ETA: We'd be better than the Clippers, but I think by "win now" MM is talking about he and Dwight signing together in Houston or Atlanta

Pretty Good chance that it does. Gordon not earning his money last season pretty much put us out of the running. No way CP3 comes here with a $14 million question mark on the roster. MAYBE, if Demps tells him he has a Gordon for Deng swap in the works and a plan for SG, but the Pelicans pretty much have to have everything fall perfectly their way to even get CP3 to return their call.

We'd actually be pretty damn good next year if Chris Paul did come back, so its hard to tell

Dont think he's an nba sf. He plays really small. He matched up with sg's a lot on o and d. That should be a red flag.

now cp3 and Dwight would definitely make me say contender if egknee plays at least 60% of what we hope

At that point you could just treat EG like the Lakers did with Bynum and just not worry about him during the regular season. Just make sure he's healthy for the playoffs

Then again, I'm pretty sure to get CP3 and Dwight we'd have to ship Gordon out anyway to have the cap space

McN talking out of his arse again. Where could CP3 go and have a better situation than he has with Clippers? Only thing I can think of is if could orchestrate a Lebron/Wade deal and get Howard to go to Atlanta with him. Even that is not terribly better than the situation with Clippers. And, he would get millions more $$$ in LA. Houston is not feasible unless the Rockets can find someone to take Robinson, Lin and Asik with nothing in return(which would allow for CP3/Howard/Harden to pair up. However, that seems difficult to work out.

Two first round exits in a row and you think that the Clippers give him the best chance to win? And yes, that is pretty much what Mac is talking about. Its a weak FA class this year, and its pretty well known that Houston and Atlanta, and maybe even Dallas are going to make a run at Dwight and would gladly take CP3 if he wanted to tag along

Atlanta and Houston are both viable options. The guys Houston would have to dump are guys many in the league would want if they are giving them away. I'm sure Houston would even pay people to take them if it meant getting Dwight and CP3. If Paul wants out he'll have plenty of options better than playing for a racist cheap skate owner that threw him under the bus in the press.

How this more directly effects the Pelicans

quote:

Joe Kotoch: A source tells me Orlando is leaning towards McLemore or Oladipo over Burke at this time. Really like Bledsoe but not sure Clips deal him.

So if CP3 looks like he may leave and Bledsoe is less available they may go Burke is what I get from that.

Wow, for a real laugh, check out the Clipper fan reaction on their board: LINK

Hilarious, many of them are actually convinced that Bledsoe >>> CP3.

ETA to some good quotes:

quote:

Let him leave we still have EBled

quote:

Bledsoe, Blake and DJ is still a nice core and we can trade up in,draft and have money for some free agents. Even if CP3 leaves we are in good shape.

quote:

Blake+Bledsoe+DJ+Great coach+tons of cap space is still a great situation.

quote:

I'm honestly not even convinced CP3 is a good long term option.

quote:

Blake's development is THE key to everything. Once Blake becomes the bonafide superstar.. we will become true title contenders.

quote:

Blake is a perennial all star and not far from a superstar. All star all 3 seasons, and all NBA 2nd team the last two. We've all seen Blake step up in CP3's absence. Sure CP is a big loss but we do still have a 2nd franchise player so why fret? Most teams don't have one.
