Oh what could have been. Lauri is lighting it up in Utah while the Pels haul from the Lonzo trade is out of the league (Sato) or riding the bench (Temple).

Maybe but Lauri would likely look like Chicago Lauri and not Utah Lauri.

He's a #1 or #2 option in Utah. He's be the 6th or 7th option with us, much like Chicago.

Unless we have zero faith in our developmental staff there is no reason Lauri wouldn’t have thrived here as well

True he wouldnt be the #1 option, but 7th option? That’s absurd.

He’d likely be our 4th or 5th leading scorer like Cle, but I’d gladly take him over Sato or Temple. If for nothing else as a worthwhile trade chip

A 4 out CJ, Trey, BI, Lauri, heavy point Zion lineup would be devastating, and frankly would have been nice to have against a team like Boston tonight that was raining threes

He's just 25. Young players often get better, especially ones who've had their development slowed by injuries. Bronc is right; there's zero reason to think that he's only thriving because he's in Utah.

I said this a few times on here. Thought he would have been a good 3rd big that could back up Zion and play some mins at center. Most on here were not very interested in him. Not to mention great insurance since Zion is pretty injury prone.

Sad thing is, Griff had another chances to get him after declining the Ball trade and still turned him down.

How do we get CJ if we take Laurie for Lonzo?

Pretty sure Griff could find a way to replace Sato’s salary to make that trade. Or whatever else is needed

Let’s not pretend like teams don’t make trades happen literally all the time if they want a player and the player is willing to play for them

Please provide the scenario where we have that current team still in place of it was a straight swap for Laurie.

I understand that everyone is looking at him with his last 2 seasons, but he was never an option for a lot of posters here because of his injury history…..the Lonzo trade wasn’t the splash we wanted, and we ended up settling for Graham…..but I don’t think things have ended up as badly as they could have.

We could be stuck paying a declining Lowry or Dinwiddie….but now we still have flexibility to still make a trade for someone like Laurie at the deadline. Sure Ainge will try to fleece us, but we have all these picks for a reason.

If you make a bad decision, and some unusual twists of fate end up giving you a good outcome in the end, it doesn't change that it was a bad decision.

If we would have traded for Laurie it would have prevented the JV and Murphy acquisitions also, correct? Or are my years off.

He's only on a reasonable deal because Chicago didn't want him and had problems finding any takers for him. If we had traded for him he'd have had the leverage to be making at least $20 per year, not $16.

That's a lot of money to pay Zion's backup. Even the $16 would be too much. It also would stunt the growth of Trey because I don't think you'd be playing him at center and you have to take minutes from someone for him.

I'd rather ask a guy capable of being #1 guy to fill #7 than ask #14 and #15 to play NBA minutes.

Utahs ownership wants Lauri to be the franchise player. That wouldn't happen here

The Lonzo/Graham trades are the worst moves Griffin has made since trading #4. In a vacuum, we got fleeced. In context of the butterfly effect, I'm happy with where we are, but those trades were ugly then and ugly now.

We all Agee that Lauri would be better than Sato/Temple

But I'd hope we can all agree that Pels Lauri would look much much much more like Bulls Lauri than Utah Lauri.

he's been very good all along. he's been injured a couple times.
when he's healthy he's very good.
he's too expensive to have in street clothes. I never followed his career so I have no idea whether his injuries were unique events or chronic.

yes, Lonzo for markkenen would have been better than whatever actually came back.
who is benched today to get lauri on the floor?
do you even do the adams jv deal? do you take tm3 with 1.10?
I hate time travel.
