Great point, its why Herb is in the deal.

The other big reason is Herb is going to cost money again soon.

it's a forward thinking move. kind of a breath of fresh air, even if you don't love the player, you have to be a fan of the idea. if it doesn't work out, what do we lose? an additional season of cap space? no FA is coming here willingly.

The more I think about it the more it makes sense. You don’t need CJ. And they may not want to have a big trade this year. So they push the big expiring to next year when they may want to make that big move.

Yeah, this is a head-scratcher. Dumars says he wants tough guys. Pool doesn't strike me as that.

Pool makes $31 million this year and $34 million after that and then is a UFA. Saddiq Bey is coming off an ACL. He seems like just a guy, albeit a big, tough guy.

The #40 pick does not excite me.

You still have like 46 million to trade this year if you factor in Herb/DJM in a deal.

Could also reroute Bey before trade is completed.

Still many things that they can do.

So now that I have thrown my tantrum about it…….

Saddiq Bey is interesting to me. Still only 26 somehow. Really liked him as a 3 and D wing when first drafted with the Pistons. A good 6’7 defender, “only” about 35% from three for his career, some years better, some worse. Will be well over a year from his ACL injury in March of 2024. He actually started 51 games for the Hawks prior to the injury.

I’ve been depressed with our wing depth after losing Naji and Dyson. But Bey could be a real nice player for us off the bench.

Counting on this organization to rehabilitate any negative asset is a pretty funny concept

Poole was fun as hell to watch last year. Probably will be able to fetch a future first for yall at the trade deadline this season or next. Makes me think Wiz are gonna try and get the 2nd or 3rd pick (take on pg3 salary)

We don't really have a choice. With this trade we got younger. Not really better but younger..

We also lost the only trade asset that can be attached with Herb to get another player worth $30mil. So if we keep the team together we only have Hawk/ Jose which is about $10-15mil.

So we lost a trade asset and matching salary and we created another hole at backup PF/C to get younger.

This trade doesn't work if we keep the team as is. And the only way to really upgrade is to include (1) of Zion/ Murray in a trade

some of you are a bit clueless.

talking about Boston and Reeves playing 20 minutes a game? If that is ever happening this coming year for a prolonged period of time, we'll be picking top 8 again next year.

Reeves is the 14th or 15th guy. He's not playing a second unless there's 4+ injuries in the backcourt.
Boston is a minimum contract guy on a team option. He's unlikely to be let go since he's a minimum contract and we need ball handlers, but like Reeves, he's not playing unless we have injuries.

neither of them are going to play minutes ahead of the #7 pick if it's a g/f.

For anyone that just wants to DV every time Herb's name is mentioned: Get the frick over it, there's a chance he gets trade whether you want to accept it or not. Stop crying or denying the possibility.

This board has become shite because fans can't even discuss realistic news/ situations. You say one thing and have 10 responses from people who don't like it. Not that its wrong, not that it couldn't be true, but because fans don't like what they are reading... Get the frick over it and actually try to have real conversations instead of whining about how you "feel" about it.

We get out from under CJ’s contract by taking on an additional year of Jordan Poole? Oof.

I’ll be more impressed if he gets very good value for Herb and is willing to trade him.

I haven't downvoted or replied to a single one of your posts but this always seems to be a big deal for you.

Some people, like it or not, are just fans, not pretend GM's. They root for players as much as the team. There is absolutely nothing wrong with that. If a guy doesn't want Herb traded, who cares. And it's also understandable because Herb is a very likeable player. Give it a rest.
