With Dyson out probably for the year, you’d think Hawkins would get more run

I thought for sure he’d get some minutes tonight at some point and I thought there were times we definitely could have used him.

Look at Hawkins January splits then someone explain how that led to him being taken out of the rotation.

Remember that convo a few days ago when I said having the availability of Jose/ Naji will disable Hawk/ Dyson? This is what I meant. If those guys are gone then Hawk plays. And that's more important than those guys getting 10-15min.

Willie a defense-first coach to a fault. And Alvarado gives you that defensive spark off the bench. He had a steal and a layup in his first 4 seconds on the floor last night. He also hit his first two 3-point shots. Same for Naji. So if Jose/Naji are giving you defense and some offense I think Willie is going to play them over Hawkins. I prefer to see Hawkins get at least 12 minutes a night but he must not be there defensively.

But i'll continue to harp on Hawkins being in the rotation in January playing 15 games that month at 18mpg, playing well, shooting extremely well, winning his minutes, so...
What happened specifically that made him then come out of the rotation entirely?

No fricking clue. There was a game he went 0-2 and missed some rotations and Willie acted like he fricked his wife center court. Hasn't gotten better since

I could get the whole willie only want defense thing....except for the fact that every starter minus Herb is TRASH at defending. Hot garbage.

I'm guessing...that if a player like Hawk gives a solid effort at practice, to improve his individual defensive game...& learn the rotations etc...Willie would probably give him some run. JMO...and a total guess.

Dyson had a 7 game span in January where he played 16 minutes per game and he scored 9 points...total
And there are games where Dyson's defense gets us nowhere. Look at the Lakers game, giving up 87 in the 1st half. Dyson played 26 minutes that game.
So if Hawkins has his rookie defensive struggles and a bad shooting game, he's done. But Dyson can be a complete non factor and serious negative offensively and we also are hemorrhaging points in a game, and it doesn't matter, he'll not lose minutes.
And now to top it all off, Dyson is out, and so far, Hawkins STILL isn't back in the rotation. MAKE IT MAKE SENSE!!

This is an incredibly accurate comment.
What's the worst that can happen? He misses a bunch of shots while getting dominated by D'Angelo Russell or Yutu Watanabe?

Pretty clear by now that it's always going to be either Hawkins or Alvarado. There isn't any wiggle room for both for whatever reason.
With Dyson out, Nance played the most minutes he's played this season. That can not happen if we intend to keep Larry healthy.

Inflated number. The best teams in the NBA are dropping 140 on that 7th ranked defense.

That doesn't make any sense lol.
If other teams are dropping 140 on us and we're the 7th ranked defense, that means 23 other teams are getting 140 dropped on them at a rate more than the Pels, 6 teams aren't.
