Royce White was traded to Sixers today, so no worries there.

already dealt

Motiejunas is maybe a player they'd move. If the Pelicans got Ryno for Asik and Motie, they'd be crazy not to take that deal.

aren't they trying to shed salary? wouldn't it make more sense for them to take someone like smith?

I like Anderson but if we got Asik + Motiejunas, probably would.

Someone said it reverts to 5 mil if he is traded from Houston.

So then why would he want to be traded? He could play side by side with Dwight for 15 and win a title or elsewhere for 5?

Per Fletcher Mackel, local NBA insider:

For Pelicans wondering - Asik is a beast defensively, still only 27 yrs old. Montiejunas has long been compared to Nowitzki, world of talent

His official salary-cap number for this season and next is $8.3 million, but because of an arcane measure the Rockets used to sign him away from the Chicago Bulls last year, he is actually owed more than $20 million over the next two seasons. His salary in 2014-15 is guaranteed at $15 million.

This is from an ESPN article .. $20 m is nuts and not worth it.

I'm thinking the only way dell deals is if he gets jones or montiejunas

If Houston balks he may settle for Asik. Depends on how bad he wants a 5 and how cheap a 3point specialist will be

That's not how it works. He gets paid the same amount either way, it's just the way the contract is structured that changes.

I wonder if we just signed Aminu so we can trade him to Houston with Anderson. Hmm

That may be what you pay him but the cap hit is supposedly just $8 per. But that would be $4 extra million out of Benson's pocket if the cap hit and the actual payout were different.

He signed a 3/$25million deal last summer. Houston structured the deal in such a way that his cap hit for the first 2 years was low and the third year was for much more, effectively fricking Chicago into the luxury tax if they matched the offer.

I believe that his cap hit normalizes if he is dealt, but I could be way off. 42 or another cap guru can explain it all
