Why is this even a debate?

It saves nothing in cap room and replaces a pure shooter with another one-dimensional player. It is what it is.

Parson's has to have one of the top 5 best salaries in the nba, but you can't do an Asik for Ryno deal without Parsons. Harden/D12 with those two shooters in your own division is irresponsible.

It's $4,000,000, and not all free spending benefits the franchise. Be frugal, not cheap when building.

the question is rarity and value

asik has a rare skill. we do not have a guy like him on our current roster

rybot does not bring a rare skill to the table. rybot's skill is also pretty replaceable from our current roster.

both have about the same cap hit

Again :headshakeguy: I didn't say HOU should make the trade. If they were in the East or at least not in the Pels division, the Asik deal would look pretty good. But since they are the Rockets' trying to build a title team right here and now, I would only do a lopsided deal with them.

Saying it doesn't make it true. Ryno has put himself in very rare air with his shooting at volume. Asik provides absolutely nothing that rare. He is a defensive only 5. Don't overrate that.

Unless there's some major deal involving Gordon you're right about that.

Your math is foolish.

5.6+15=20.6

8.3+8.3=16.6

20.6-16.6= four million dollars

asik has like a top 5 defensive impact on a team. rybot's offense doesn't provide the same impact

and rybot is an offensive 4 only, who gives up about as much as he gives himself

You keep saying that Asik has a rare skill, as if because you say it, it must be true. It isn't true. His skill isn't rare at all.

Look man I love Ryno but this is not true. Asik is one of the only centers in the NBA that can handle Dwight. We need him.

that comparison makes no sense

i'm comparing the 5.6/15 average, and the $15M actual payment only has a "wow" factor if you ignore how cheap $5.6M is for asik this year. ignoring that is foolish, and minimizes any "Excess" spending the next year
