So, it’s SVG fault that they can’t shoot or give effort on defense?

It's Griff's fault/plan. This team was set up to fail. I've said it many times, you don't trade your best defender and then switch to a defense first philosophy if your goal is to win.

Griff needs to do a much better job building a roster that aligns with the plan or the same thing will happen again. It's also still not looking good for Ingram to be part of a winning team if defense is the focus.

Think it is 4-

I think it’s defensible and even potentially advisable from a winning basketball standpoint, but Griff is not trading BI.

Griff fricking loves BI. It’s very evident every time he speaks about the team, including the last 2 times he’s spoken publicly. BI is essentially untouchable to Griff. Not saying he should be, but he is, so we probably shouldn’t even waste any time or effort on BI trade scenarios this offseason.

Agree. And bringing in an old school coach who has been away from the game for so long was a huge mistake. He does not relate to the players and his scheme was proven not to be effective in today's NBA. The defense started to improve when he stopped clogging the paint all the time and letting teams continue to shoot open 3s.

It is amplified by what an abject disaster this past offseason was.

Griffin needs to at least hit a triple this offseason.
If Zion signs the QO next offseason, just fire everyone. Everyone!

I thought it was 4, but on NBA Radio the other day they were talking about him and his possibility of getting fired, and they mentioned there was no way because he was signed for 5 years.

If it's a 4 year deal, then yeah he will have one more season and that's it.

It was head scratching at the time. Some of us tried to make the best of it while still being somewhat perplexed.

Now it just looks like a totally idiotic decision

Odds are that SVG will be back. But, I think a smart move would be to bring in David Vanterpool and place him on staff. He's not returning to the Wolves. He's a defensive wizard and really relates well with players. Would be a good guy to be a buffer between SVG and the team. Just a thought.

Its true. Zion and family havent loved the first two years
I don't care how old or young he is, i'm going to Zion and asking who needs to be gone, we'll make it happen.

It's not like SVG or Griff are doing some great job and aren't replaceable. I'm asking Zion what he needs to be happy, and unless it's something totally off the wall, I'm going to do my darndest to make it happen.

He does which was one of the things brought up at the time of his hire. He has had some serious friction between a lot of high profile players.

That coupled with the fact that he does not like to play young players in games...it was just weird.

I'll give BI some credit. For the most part, in his exit interview, he was very open with his pitfalls this season especially defensively. Seems like he's very aware in that regard...just a matter of if it will translate to the game.

SVG has a history of banging heads with his star players. It's was probably naive to believe that SVG could all of a sudden relate to his players. Griffin really needs to stop making moves with his heart and start using his brain. This whole archaic way of building this team has been his downfall.

Apparently John Hollinger and Nate Duncan discuss "Zion rumors" that he is extremely upset with the team in their latest pod. I haven't listened yet. I'll give it a go in a moment. at the 1:07:00 mark apparently

They really said nothing other than they have heard 2nd and 3rd hand that things may not be going well with Zion in NOLA. Nothing concrete or even suggestive at all.

I don't buy it, he talked about his shortcomings on defense all season long in every interview, yet didn't do anything to correct it, not even trying to give more effort.

Honestly, I would love for Gayle to go to Griffin and ask to have Zion meet with them to discuss. If he wants SVG gone, she should dump him immediately and get a coach that relates to the younger players. We are a very young team with an over the hill, out of touch, old school coach. Makes no sense in today's NBA.

If they don't have any faith in SVG the time is NOW.

Yes, it looks bad to fire a coach after a year, and for Zion and Griffin to have 3 different HCs in 3 years.

But frick it, don't believe in sunk cost. If he's not the right guy he's not the right guy.

Fire him, bit the bullet, and hire a young guy with playing experience that they can relate to. David Vanterpool for instance.

I would love for him to be gone, I don't think he's a bad coach or anything, he's just not the "right" coach for this team.

I just don't think they can him yet, they will attribute this season to lack of practices and covid and a young team.

Stan wouldn't have been a bad hire, if they didn't cheap out on the assistant coaches. You had LAC and Nets building a super roster of assistants, while Pels ended up with pretty much scrap as lead assistant.
