It's night and day what having a decent big did for that team.

I'm thinking that's the dude we should have tried for.

But it's clear, that if we move Val for a competent big who can move, we can get a lot better FAST.

Raptors were junk and are now a dangerous team in the East just from acquiring one decent big.

We should've bit the bullet and traded for Turner 3 years ago. All the assets we spent on favor, adams, and JV we could have spent that on turner and had our long term center

He’s the one guy I really wanted us to get at the trade deadline and move Jax for. But we’d have to pay him and send JV away in the off-season and that woukd have made the locker room akward the rest of the year.

Reports are that Griff offered #4 and they said no.

They're 3-2 since ASB and just lost to Washington. They didn't score 100 in two of the 5.

The defense is looking much better but the sample size is way too small IMO.

Last season Poetl played exactly 50% of team minutes, and the Spurs were better defensively when he was off the floor. They were also MUCH worse offensively when he was off the floor, so who knows.

Year before that, the D was worse when he was off the floor.

Not sure anything in the middle matters other than my 1st line though, sample size is just too small so far.

way to prove your point with some simple stats. YOu could have even tried to cherry pick some stats to prove your point, although that might have been hard to do.

Poeltl isn't a competent big that can move, and he's a lot less skilled offensively than JV.
Not saying we can't improve by finding another 5, but Poeltl isn't that guy.

The Pel's "center" problems are not "We can't slow down Jokic and Embiid enough". They're "We're getting killed in the P&R and only have 2 good rebounders on the team". I don't think we should focus on "rim protection" as much as can they defend in space while being big enough to not get steamrolled by Jokic/Embiid. We also need the wings to figure out how to box out because the type of center we're looking for often isn't a great rebounder.

Every time we talk about this topic it just makes Hayes seem like even more of a disappointment. He could and in many ways should be the answer, but he isn't
