Does anyone have proof Atl would have made the trade with protections?

No one will directly answer this question. It doesn't fit their narrative.

I don't think they do. There is no benefit for them. But there is no evidence either way..

It’s in my opinion the only way ATL would’ve made the trade is without protections

This was just a perfect opportunity for the Atlanta GM to play dumb while also trying to make himself look like a genius

Exactly. At the end of the day we over paid for the pick. I dont think that's a debate. But on the flip side, the trade with the protections is an under pay. Atlanta doesn't have to do it. Maybe we have to include more picks or players to get it done (along with the protected pick). But nobody ever includes any of that. They just said Atlanta takes that one selection. I don't think that gets it done.

And if you ask their fans, they would rather Queen than that pick

I dont know about that. That selection gives them a lot of bragging rights, until it's conveyed. Its a lottery ticket and if it hits, it's going to be hard to live down. That's the huge gamble we made. At this point it's not looking great, even with Queen showing out..

That pick is one of the most valuable trade assets in the NBA

Did the Queen pick not hit? I don’t know about you but i just watched a rookie center put up a 33 point triple double last night

Maybe Dumars shoulda offered up an Herb for DD swap with the top 5 protections. They really wanted Herb last year. Wouldn’t have to pay DD an extension and DDs age aligns perfectly with Fears and Queen

Two things can be true:

1) Queen looks really good and there is a chance he ends up one of the better big men in the league

and

2) The trade at the time was one of the worst trades one could possibly conceive and even if Queen is good, will set us back a year or two at least

Why would the trade set us back? We got a very good player a year earlier than the pick would have been. And it’s rare for rookies to show out like Queen has. That player we would have gotten next year would probably take more time than Queen has to acclimate to the league.

This is one of the dumbest things I’ve ever read. So getting a young future all star center now will set us back longer than drafting an unknown next year? Lmao

I Hope we hire Mike Malone now so he can unlock his full potential like he did with Joker

Too many retards on here can’t understand this. Expected. The issue with the trade is the lack of protections. At minimum make it top 3 protected

If the lottery pick hits you get to pick a Zion

Its like everyone forgets you eventually have to use the pick.
