I'm sure the team sees Casspi and Cunningham as similar players and you really only need Bird Rights on 1, but I also assume Casspi was brought over in the trade for Cousins related reasons. I just hope they didn't damage the relationship with Cousins any for a very short term gain.

It's not that simple. There is an order of operations at play. Holiday's cap hold of $16.9 million is much less than he's likely to sign for. So while it's just his cap hold and not a new deal you can make moves to get under the cap like dumping Ajinca/QPon and and stretching Asik. That puts you around $14 million in cap space plus you'd get the Room Level Exception. So you could sign someone like Tim Hardaway Jr. or trade for $14 million worth of players and then have the Room Level Exception which is going to be around $4.5 million. You could probably use that to resign one of Casspi or Cunningham. And once you've used your cap space then you resign Holiday.

You do lose the MLE and the $3.5 million trade exception you got in the Cousins trade, but as MM has been saying, the Pels have a lot of options for filling out the roster, some using cap space and some staying over the cap.

How do you have the patience to explain things over and over to people, often citing the same thing dozens of times?

The CBA is changing this summer so a lot of amounts and such will need to be different next year.

Will my authentic omri casspri Mardi Gras jersey be a collectors item on the Israeli black market ?

Yeah I've gotta believe this was discussed with Cousins and Omri before it happened. No reason to start degrading the relationship with your star over something this silly.

And if Omri is healthy and in shape for the last 8-10 games, there's nothing stopping you from bringing him back in for the final push. I doubt Reggie does enough to warrant keeping the roster spot.

Is a nice core to start with before we need to consider using the MLE, RE and 3.5M trade exception.

Then add guys like Cunningham,Casspi,D-Mo etc.
