Oh yeah that's true I forgot that he had done that. Usually he stays in Dallas.
Who is to stay that it's not Gray or Cheatham that is staying home... I'd imagine it's a guard though because it wouldn't make sense to get one if a big weren't going.

Can we talk about Thornwell? I haven't followed his career. Did he get injured with the Clips? Or did they just give up on his development after two years?

Here's his scouting report according NBA Scouting Live.
Here is a YouTube video of him from 2018 against the Pels.

He’s played well defensively at times. Hasn’t been very good offensively. That’s my understanding.

thornwell is a substitute player for miller
I was wrong
hollinger is reporting he is a COVID replacement for an as yet unnamed player.

You'd assume they're replacing a guard with a guard. Seems like Etwaun or Frank make the most sense.

Or Gray
Gray is on a 2 way contract. It's hard to say for sure with Thornwell being listed as a "substitute" player, but I think if he were replacing Gray we'd have seen 2 Way contract mentioned.
Even Kushner doesn't know

Are we all still secretly guessing which Pelicans players got COVID? Because I am.

Unless he tested positive, I can assure ita not Gray or Cheatham.
If either one refused to go, that would pretty much be the end of their NBA career

It's not a given that the player being replaced decided to opt out.
If the player reported back in poor shape, the positive COVID test would simply add fuel to the fire, and Griffin/Gentry could have decided to move on from someone who they didn't think would be in position to help the team.
As I have already said, I don't think that this is the situation. I think it's Moore and he opted out. But it's possible.

Etwaun's doing his presser today. That basically leaves Frank and Kenrich, I think.

Before the shutdown, we heard for weeks on end that Kenrich was due to return any moment now, but he never did.
I wonder if his back never got right.

That could be it. You would think they would replace Kenrich with a bigger guy, not another Guard. But maybe they just thought Thornwell would be more useful than other guys available.

Been trying to figure out who Thornwell's replacing and forgot 3 guys tested positive. Outside of the 2 ways, Frank, Jaxson and Kenrich are the only guys we haven't seen yet.
Could be a couple of the 3 guys already got negative results back and we won't know who originally had it.
The Kenrich injury replacement does make some sense though, because unless a guy got really really sick, it would be odd to sign a replacement before giving him a chance to test negative.

i think they would be, and someone who can actually hit a 3.
Thornwell is 6'4" 215 with a 6'10" wingspan
Kenrich is 6'7" 210 with a 6'7" wingspan
I think you could argue that Thornwell is at a minimum, just as big as Kenrich.

Moore had his press conference, so we can likely officially say it is Frank, Jaxson, and Kenrich that have Covid.
Have to assume they are replacing either Kenrich or Frank, likely Kenrich you would think.

Couldn't Gray or Cheatham also been among the three positive tests?
But I agree that we now know for sure that it's either Frank or Kenrich who is getting replaced.
My understanding is that the positive players were all initially tested two weeks ago, on June 23rd. The protocol then has them remaining in quarantine until they are able to test negative two days in a row. After those negative tests, they can be out of quarantine but have to wait 14 days for a cardiac screening before returning to practice or play.
If I have any of that wrong, then please correct me. But I think that means that the other two guys have likely been cleared from the virus and can travel with the team to Orlando this week, and they will likely be able to practice soon.

Saw Frank at the practice today so I assume it’s Kenrich.
