OK. Hield has only been a borderline starter for most of his career, because of his atrocious defense.

The Jazz don't want either Collins or Kessler. They could trade both for Ingram, and at worst open up a ton of cap space for next summer. Our roster at least makes some sense if we do that deal. I believe that trade is a 10 game swing, at least. I don't understand why we haven't pulled the trigger on that. Do we have to include picks?

The Jazz are near the salary floor and don’t want to win.

To be honest, thats a pretty good career for a volume shooter. Making 100+ mil with a 10+ year career and a demand for a roster spot well into the 30s.

I don't get the hate, he's about to be in this league 12 years, have made 142.4mil at the end of this contract, and retire at 35.

Granted I still wish we took Murray, but I'm a firm believer we'd have traded him too.

For comparison:
Dragan Bender - 4 years 15mil, out the league
Kris Dunn - 11 years 47mil at the end of his current contract
Marquese Chriss - 7 years 16mil, out the league
Jakob Poeltl - 11 years 116mil at the end of his current contract
Thon Maker - 5 years 11.7mil, out of the league

According to Pelicans sources in California there has been a very obvious standout: Jordan Hawkins

He’s rarely missed, amped up defensively, and has clearly added more muscle to compete in the NBA

I would love to believe this "source" but it's really hard to believe someone who says a guy "clearly added more muscle" when we just saw Hawkins at the end of July, and he clearly didn't add any muscle up to that point, but i'm supposed to believe he clearly has 5-6 weeks later?

Shh. We don't want him to get any "random" tests.

It's been painful. I've been waiting for some big move to happen. I can't believe we are going into the season with this current group. We are legit worse than last year. I don't see us winning 41 games. We shouldn't go sub .500 with 4 guys making 30M or more a year. Its crazy..

outcomes are highly variable

outcome A: Zion is an mvp candidate, nothing else matters, pels win 50

outcome B: Zion is not an mvp candidate, nothing else matters, pels in the lottery

it feels like there’s no in between and the margin of error is slim. Compared to a team like OKC which should be able to dictate terms night after night, this team is a craps table

We have no frontcourt. Teams will destroy us down low. Zion is a big wing that doesn't like to bang on defense. Ingram, Murphy and Jones all weigh under 210lbs. Big guards like Edwards can bully them. How are we going to stop anyone?

I am praying that MIssi or Matkovic is a wunderkind and totally surpasses all expectations. Otherwise, we are sending out pure journeymen in Theis, JRE or Jemison. That group of 5 has to play 30+mpg right away, spread out somehow. Once we get some injuries to our primary 6, those minutes will only go up.

Here is a fun fact I did not realize. Did you know that Theis is actually older than Jonas? It's only by a month, but still true.

Zion has to put up 35+ppg to get into the top 5 for MVP at this point. I don't think that's possible with 3 other players that normally score 20ppg (that's not even including Murphy hopefully making a leap forward). There are just not enough shots to go around.

I've seen many teams try to do this before, from the old Nuggets to the run TMC Warriors. We are going to try and outscore teams. Run them off the court. I kind of dig it and it would be a lot of fun, with high scoring games. Those teams were intentionally built that way though. This doesn't seem intentional for us..
