Amazing. I know people can get trapped in a bubble, but I have no clue how Davis couldn't see people being upset.

Then I saw him on the lebron show and realized he’s an out of touch idiot

Cant go into too much detail but It's not a report, it's literally from Ferry's mouth

Thanks for sharing. It's kind of surprising that he said this recently, given the public comments made by Gayle wanting to make changes, and the reports from behind the scenes saying the same. I'm guessing he isn't buying that there will be changes made, or at least enough/the right changes?

Almost sounds as if he is butthurt that his friend Demps got fired. Ferry had a cush job as a consultant that allowed him to spend a lot of time in Atlanta. Now his friend gets the boot and suddenly just now he decides it is such a terrible place to be.

If Ferry doesn't want to be the GM I have to think it's either personal, ie not wanting to leave Atlanta, which does sound like a bit of an issue, or he doesn't think the team will give him what he feels he needs to compete. Whether that's spending on the infrastructure side or losing the Win Now mandate or both. I don't buy the "clusterfrick organization" excuse. It's not like the problem is Loomis/Benson meddling, the problem is there's not enough supervision if you put the wrong person in charge.

I would love it if they spent a bunch of money with a search firm and the names they came up with are the names we have already talked about on here, ie Langdon, Zarren, Hinkie, etc.

I'd find that somewhat humorous.

I agree. by using that term for the organization who is being referred to? Loomis? Other consultants? because other than Gayle & Jrue, everything else is a blank canvas.

If anything, I think Ferry wants to go back to the consultant lifestyle. He had his cake & could eat it too when he was a consultant for the Pelicans. Came-and-went as he pleased, lived where he wanted, was a valued voice inside an organization, but didn't have any of the real responsibilities. Seems like a pretty solid gig.

Search firm goes into a lot more detail and I would imagine also discreetly probes the interest level and wants of the potential candidates.

I mean, there are only so many names out there. It's not like they are going to find some person that no one has ever heard of. It's absurd that these firms even exist

Kind of like lawyers or CPAs or NBA agents.

It's easier for athletes when their talents are obvious from a young age. People are already feeding your ego before you're old enough to drive a car.

Re: Search firms. As others mentioned it's more than just 'here is a list of obvious names.' It's more along the lines of vetting candidates with background research and potential skeletons or issues.

If this is true then AD is more clueless than I thought

it’s time we reckon with the fact that these players who never have to spend any energy on an education from middle school on need to be managed differently than players in years past.

think about it
how equipped would you be to manage your affairs if after 6th grade nobody cared or asked about your scholastic efforts? If you were not expected in any way to learn anything other than what you can do with your hands and legs?

we point and laugh at the pseudo intellectualism of a player like LeBron or Davis and we forget that they basically have the mind of a child. none of this surprises me and smart teams are going to have to become parents and teachers to these players

I think the other thing most people aren't accounting for in this situation is that LeBron is this generation's Michael Jordan. He's the guy everyone looks up to. I'm sure it's very easy for him to spin a tale that AD wants to believe, including that the fans have no right to be mad at him. He's his own CEO and he has to make decisions that are best for him.

I understand you're point but i don't think children learn nearly as much between the covers of a text book as much as they di experiencing life. I know that's how it was for me.
