Then you’d have to start making a decision on who to trade…

Interested to see what you think about all of these guys. I know you study the draft a good bit. I watch tournament games, interviews and some highlight tapes. I base my player Evals based on athleticism, can you create either your own shot or at least someone else’s shot, interviews, effort, and bbiq.

Ive been super high on Ivey and his fit on The Pelicans all season. Ivey checks every box I mentioned above. I also think he fits reasonably next to CJ as well. Much better than another 6ft 0 inch guard.

I like Chet’s intangibles and willingness to be coached, more than I like him as a winning NBA player right now. Maybe I understated Banchero a bit, but 110% of Tobias Harris is a damn good player. Jabari Smith is interesting and I think could contribute to winning immediately. I just think we have a logjam at PF/C.

I guess first off I would say I have Ivey in a different tier than the first three. I really like Ivey and think he will be a very good player in this league, but I think he has more concerns (bigger concerns may be a better way to put it?) than Smith, Paolo, and Chet.

I think he's more of a combo two guard than a PG. More of a Donovan Mitchell, Victor Oladipo type. Which is great, I just think the Ja comparisons (which I've seen a ton of, so not signaling you out) are off base. I think the explosiveness and first step is there, but there are other things especially his lack of creating for others that keeps him away from Ja.

I think that makes more sense for Paolo, though I would probably go even higher than that. He's bigger, stronger (will be?), faster, quicker, and just more athletic than Tobias. Though I don't your comparison is bad. He's like Tobias if some 15 year old was editing him on 2K lol Heck this may sound ridiculous but I could see him being a less phyiscally gifted but a more basketball skill gifted than Giannis. I think of him that highly offensively, though he's not even in the same area code defensively. But he will be a better shooter and I could see him being a better playmaker than Giannis.

Chet is the guy I go back and forth on. I think he's the least sexy of Paolo, Smith, and Ivey. But he does a lot of things that don't show up on the ESPN box score. Honestly I have a gut feeling he doesn't live up to his draft stock, but it's an unexplainable gut feeling sort of thing. On paper he's a stud that does so many things, though I worry he's a bit of a jack of all trades master of none type guy.

It was a joke, but it would be funny to see both of those goofy lanky bastards running around on the same team

We're referring to Victor Wembanyama, who is 7'2, and the top prospect for the 2023 draft. He's kinda similar to Chet.

he’s what Chet wishes he was. Victor is on another level. And Victor may be pushing 7’5 he towers over Chet

I would compare Ivey to DeWayne Wade, I think he will have the same kind of game in the pros.

What would it take to trade up one or two spots to grab Jabari?

I thought about that one. A poor mans DWade, maybe very poor mans. DWade was really good in his prime from midrange/push shot range, and it's hard to project Ivey right now given how bad he is from there. I also think Ivey projects to be significantly less of a playmaker for others than Dwade was.

I also never see it talked about, but I think Ivey's handle leaves a little bit to be desired right now, at least for a guy we're talking about being a top 4 pick.

Dwade was a midranges assassin.

Ivey has a terrible midrange game. Other then both being athletic their games are nothing alike.

Wade has handles, can go side to side, change speed, and better vision as a lead guard. Not to mention elite touch around the basket and that elite in between game and defense.

Ivey is a straight line driver with weak handles and far too often barrels head on into a defender. Ivey wasn’t particularly a good defender coming into the draft either. I don’t believe Ivey will be a PG in the league. Combo guard as a secondary ball handler is probably where his skill set fits.
