I can almost see a vision where you are giving up Trey and Dejounte plus maybe 2 picks to get Brown, but you're also trading Zion and Herb (etc) and acquiring a few young players and picks. Letting Brown instill some things in Fears and Queen. Not totally leveraging the future for now.

But of course we are not doing that. Brown would be miserable in that situation and he is not a guy that would keep quiet.

And that isn't the kind of nuanced thing that Dumars would do, anyway.

I also haven't seen anyone talk about bey in this. Hes a huge underrated asset for us

Would you give up murphy and Bey if it meant you could get off poole?

I rather trade Poole as an expiring contract for a player at a position of need that may have another year on the books than to move those guys just to move Poole.

I highly doubt this even happens. There’s no way in hell Brown will want to play in New Orleans. He’d kill the deal before it could even begin

Which is probably why this has leaked.

Most of these big deals don't leak this far out. Shams breaks them out of nowhere.

I wouldn't doubt that Brown's reps got wind of the talks and leaked it

I'm not worried about that. Hes paid a metric frickton to play ball and Boston sucks compared to New Orleans as a city.

Itd take a hell of a recruitment pitch. But Brown is weird enough that I think he might take a look at it working.

Ehhhhhhh the Boston metro is much larger, MUCH richer, with a lot more nice areas to live and things to do, and direct access to other very large metro areas.

Boston is a very nice city

It almost sorta makes sense to pair Dejounte with Jaylen if that is the route you are going.

Sending him out with Trey, to pair a 30 year old huge contract Brown with Fears and Queen (and Zion) makes little to no sense.

Correct.

We are, of course, trying to do some Frankenstein version of both,

The crazy part is I bet Weaver/Dumars think their draft strategies a year ago are brilliant, b/c they seem like the type to be huge results-oriented thinking types.

Or Boston is using this as leverage. "You want to be a dick? We will send your arse to Siberia (New Orleans)"

Ok. So?

I have had some incredible meals in Boston, they have some pretty high level restaurants there. And you are extremely close to large metros like NYC and Philly.

Shamit, for a local guy, has been pretty plugged in the past year:

I don't think anyone local is plugged in anymore now that Dumars has pretty much cleaned house.

It seemed like he started having info once Dumars was hired. I don't remember him having a lot before, maybe i am wrong

He does seem more “plugged in” now than before. But he also said Zion was getting traded last summer. So who knows. I do think he has sources within the org. But they might not be anything as a certainty.

I doubt a Brown trade happens. But let’s say they were able to send Trey, Pool and picks.

A roster of

Murray/Fears
Brown/Herb
Bey/?
Zion/queen
Missi/Karlo

Is at least…kinda fun. Can’t shoot for shite but at least there’s some things there. To be clear, not what I would do.

Personally I’m okay with giving up draft capital from the 2027 draft because as of now that class seems very weak. Maybe another pick in the distant future with Trey

But I’ll always be in favor of a rebuild. Collect draft picks and young players and do the one thing Troy Weaver is pretty good at which is drafting quality players. Pray we get lucky in a great draft. This is the only way we’ll ever have a chance

Correct.

It seems extremely apparent that ownership would prefer a team that is treadmill over tearing it down and building back up.
