If it doesn't look like it's going to work out, then you aren't gonna get much for cousins. Maybe you get something a little better than Oubre/Gortat but we ain't getting Beal

I don't think they can afford Wall supermax ($37.5) Boogie max ($30.5) , Otto Porter max ($26M) and Beal ($25M)

So you'd also say that if things between Wall and Washington don't work out, we would be able to get him for something similar...

They could sign boogie then use Bird rights to sign Wall. They'd have to shed most everything else and they'd definitely be a tax team but that starting lineup is a contender for sure.

I'm saying if Wall and Washington doesn't work out we would never trade them Cousins, just like they wouldn't trade us Beal if it didn't work out here.
ETA: This may sound confusing but basically what I'm saying is: Washington isn't gonna trade us their second best player for a guy who wouldn't resign here, just like we would never trade our second best player for a guy who isn't gonna resign there.

That's 4 players at $119M with the tax estimated at $123M. They'd have to dump Mahimni, Gortat, & Morris and replace them with low salary guys as well as have assets to give Pels.

But we would trade them Jrue, our 3rd best player, so if Beal isn't in play then Porter would be. I would think they would dump Beal first though if the tension between him and Wall has any truth to it.

After we get Jrue, Wall, AD and Cous, we can probably get Kawhi to come here.

Wall is a crazy long shot, but it is really odd that he hasn't signed his supermax extension yet.

I keep anxiously clicking on Pels Talk with the hope that this trade hasn't happened yet and will therefore never happen.

Tiger - I can guarantee You that Denver is willing only one first rounder for Wilson. He is going to be a FA. They understand it.
Also Barton is available for cheap. Two seconds. Probably at the deadline it will be one.
Problem with both of them - they will be FA.
And especially Barton wants to be paid. And this terrifies teams.
Chandler's injury history is also a concern.
So those are the reasons they are still Nuggets.
Denver is waiting. Many teams are calling. Cause they have a good pieces.

Honestly I think that Washington should have let Otto walk. Regress next season but be in position to go after a big named FA like Paul George or Boogie. Then you can guarantee John Wall returning to the Wiz.
But now that they have a ton of money tied up in Beal and Porter and less flexibility to chase another player. I'm sure there is a way for them to still get Boogie (not PG now because of Beal and Porter) but them matching for Porter makes it infinitely more difficult for them to get Boogie.
I think the biggest thing for us to watch is if it'll be easier for Washington to off load every other contract to make room for Boogie next summer, or will it be easier for the Pelicans to trade for Wall next summer (amongst probably a bunch of other teams that will out offers on the table)/wait till Wall is a FA in 2 years (idk if he has a player option).
Another wrinkle could be if OKC decides to swap PG for Otto Porter if they know PG will walk. Who knows what would happen then.
A LOT of dominos need to fall for us to get Wall and I'd say the chances are very very slim. The only reason we can even discuss this is because Wall hasn't signed his supermax (which is still a possibility) and Boogie and Wall are really close friends and have talked about playing together (which isn't unique because almost every NBA super star has these conversations and wants to play with other super stars)

So we take Anderson and give up what? That's a lot of salary to dump. Why wouldn't the Knicks just take Ryno?
Posted on 7/12/17 at 6:14 pm to SLafourche07
I would guess that Asik has to be part of it given the salaries involved.
As far as Anderson goes, he plays the same position as Porzingas so they don't want a ton of money for someone who will be a backup.

No way we're taking Ryno. Paying him $20M to be a backup 4? LOL
Posted on 7/12/17 at 6:22 pm to LesGeaux45
NBC Sports claims it is a potential 4 team trade. If so we don't necessarily take back Ryno but we may end up with other shite contracts.
Maybe this ties in with the proposed Pistons deal.

Because Porter was an RFA, he has a 1 year no trade clause. So Porter doesn't have to go anywhere if he doesn't want to.
