Maybe Oden's heart is in NOLA and he will take the minimum?

Maybe his market is closer to the minimum than is being let on...

The Heat are rumored to only be willing to offer the minimum. Not sure about the Spurs.

Well if Mason is right, it would seem any team over the cap could only be able to offer the minimum unless they use the MLE or Room exception on him.

Jester, on a scale of 1 to Pelicans rebrand, how mad are you about the Pelicans potential signing of Greg Oden?

If this is true, any idea how we are even in the mix here?

That rule was aimed at preventing teams from using pretend players in deals. Considering that Oden is trying to make a comeback, maybe they think they can get around the rule.

1. Mason seems to stick to the facts more than that other guy (not you, Jason)

2. He quoted a very legit cap source

That would seem to make it easier. Who are then other "interested teams"? Miami, SA, and who else?

Believe the Kings were mentioned somewhere too.

Miami, SA, Kings, Mavs

A tweet referencing Larry Coon's salary cap FAQ.

That's everything I've seen.

Apparently he met with the Mavs yesterday. Miami is "tracking" him. And nothing else today but those other teams have interest in meeting with him.

Also, if we are just talking about a minimum deal here, can anyone really complain?

@christomasson: Oden remains very interested in Heat but Conley wouldn’t go so far as to say are front runner. Others in mix include Spurs, Kings, Pelicans

All the other teams mentioned still have their MLE. Maybe Loomis is going because all the Pelicans can offer is the minimum and the inspiring Drew Brees story of going from career threatening injury to World Champion and future Senator from the great state of Louisiana.

I'm picnic table-shattering mad. Not really. It really depends on the cost. Sending out anyone who will see the court would be tough.

Chris Tomasson @christomasson now

Greg Oden agent Mike Conley said likely will be few weeks before Oden picks a team Interested teams must continue to sift through medrecords

Weeks of medical research = Low Risk Condition.

Good luck to the team that does give him more than the minimum.

Oden has made 23 million + in his career. It shouldn't be about money, but what is best for his career. That is if he is trying to actually salvage it. This is mainly when considering similar offers of course.

RT @christomasson: Greg Oden agent tells FOX Mike Miller release could help Heat's Oden quest. "I'd think that from their end, it helps."

I'd like for us to give Oden a shot, but the Heat are dumb if they cut Miller for Oden.
