I don’t know why but that made me laugh really hard…was not the comment I was expecting.

Your 100% right that RPM is complex, but I think it’s a stat worth considering, just not taking as an absolute value.

Does it fit my narrative? Yes...ok that is interesting

Does it fit my narrative? No...well this advanced metric is useless.

Shel that’s probably about right.

I thought several guy’s positions were at least a bit unexpected. JV and Herb were higher than I expected, and BI, Naji and Jose were lower. Josh was way lower, but I don’t know how much of that stems from his time in SA that I didn’t see.

Not sure how well a stat like this can work for low minutes guys, so I take our end of bench guy’s position with a larger grain of salt.

I think we can safely say JV has helped the Pels win quite a few games this season. All of these advanced stats have flaws and skews. One thing that could be biasing the data, in games he helped win he probably played more minutes and in games where he was a liability he probably played fewer minutes.

In fairness, we're probably all guilty of it, myself included.

This is definitely true and why you need to take some advanced stats with a grain of salt.

This list is just a reminder that more often than not, the eye test is much better than a calculator. I don't hate advanced stats, but this is just ridiculous

““RPM created by Jeremias Engelmann is not the one currently displayed on ESPN,” responded one individual, who works as the director of basketball analytics for a team in the Western Conference. “I would rank the former very highly while the latter is in my estimation fairly useless.”

RPM used to be decent, but has generated some pretty funky outliers for ~ 5 years now.
