We've talked about Denver being a possible trade target for Jrue.

I think them losing in the 1st round helps our cause, it could make them a bit more desperate to make that move.

Go Utah!

Only guys they’d give up are Harris and Barton. Jokic and Murray have good chemistry. Doubt Denver would split that. And they aren’t trading MPJ

Yep, thats the bad thing with Denver, their picks won't be particularly worth much, and they won't part with the only 2 assets we would want in Murray and MPJ.

They will be good bidders to drive up the price though.

I wouldn’t hate it. He can rim protect and can space. Have the assets

But he's the Sixers best player. They aren't going to deal him unless he demands a trade.

Does anyone else believe that more is going to happen this offseason that we originally thought? I feel like there is going to be some big trades happening. I don't know why. Just a gut feeling.

There could be. There seems to be some dysfunctional stars and some real dejection coming out of the bubble.

I don’t know. With so much uncertainty and inability to meet with people in person it may be difficult.

Totally non-Pels related but I saw Dinwiddie comment on someone saying Luka’s pace was really slow but he still dominated:

quote:

Change of pace has always been more effective than pace in general.

If I see something every time eventually I can stop it.

If the rhythm/cadence is constantly changing what are you supposed to dance to?

Makes sense has really made me think about the foibles of Gentry just saying “faster” as his only coaching strategy.

Yep, 100%

For one, we didn't have a defense to even allow for that. But I also don't think we had the right team makeup for a fast squad, especially when Zion was out.

Favors, Jrue, BI...none of those guys strike me as the type that I just NEED to get out and run with. Quite the opposite in fact.

I agree your sentiment.
If Gentry could have slowed the pace down some then these guys could have more energy to focus on defense.

MM threw out an interesting trade today

quote:

Pelicans Offseason Trade Proposal, Day 4:

Our first 4-teamer!!!

Hawks Get: Lonzo Ball, Zhaire Smith, 13th pick
Sixers Get: JJ Redick
Kings Get: Josh Richardson
Pelicans Get: Buddy Hield, 6th pick

Hawks - Move back 7 spots in the draft and get a guard who fits well w/ Trae, along with taking a flyer on Smith

Sixers - Bring JJ back to open the floor, Thybulle gets Richardson's minutes when they need defense

Kings - Reduce payroll by 14 mil and get a potentially better fit

Pels bring Buddy back and hope he is the shooter they need while moving up enough in the draft to take their PG of the future. If Buddy doesnt work out, he is very tradeable in future years as salary declines

I've been against most JJ trades but it's hard to turn down getting Buddy and moving up in the draft.

I prefer his Day 3 trade proposal:

Pelicans Offseason Trade Proposal, Day 3

Riskiest one yet, and our first three-teamer!!

Pacers get: Caris LeVert, JJ Redick

Nets get: Jrue Holiday

Pelicans get: Victor Oladipo, Garrett Temple, Doug McDermott, swap rights w/ Nets 2023, Nets 2024 or 2025 first (Pels choose)

That Day 4 trade isn’t bad. I’m not the biggest fan of Buddy but he’s a good 6th man. Can draft Killian

I don't really get why the 76ers would trade Richardson/Smith for 1 year of Redick though.

Those are like two of the only non-shitty contracts they have.

Right, but I think it's close. Maybe you could cobble enough 2nds together to make it a pseudo first like when we traded Mirotic to the Bucks and they could flip that for another win now player.

Draft and league year almost certainly getting pushed back per Woj:

quote:

NBA is moving toward pushing back this year's draft, scheduled for Oct. 16, along with Oct. 18 start of free agency, partly because of likelihood that the tentative opening of the 2020-21 season will be delayed from Dec. 1, per sources. Also allows more time to set a salary cap.

I expected this would happen. I would think the NBA would target Christmas as opening day so as to not lose that prime TV event. If that is the case, the draft could be pushed into early November.
