Heard on NBA Radio this morning that Kenny Smith may be getting a look for the Kings GM position and IF that happens, there's a possibility he brings in Mark Jackson as his head coach.
Kenny was interviewed by them years ago. Obviously never got the job but they were interested. Would be a horrible hire. Might as well move them to Seattle

What would people think of some variation of a 3 team deal with GSW, us and Chicago.

GSW: Jrue
Chicago: 2, Wiggins
NOP: Lavine, Markaanen

I’ve read a few things that the Bulls May move Lauri this offseason.

I’m trying to figure out how to make draft compensation work. In this scenario Chicago has 2 and 4 in the draft which is nice, but I’m not sure they want to move Lavine. It just doesn’t work without his salary.

Does Chi need another pick? 13? A future first from GSW instead?

I don’t know.

I'm not sure i'd want Lavine.

If the Bulls are rumored to be shopping Markaanen, that's a red flag for me.

If we send Jrue to GSW and get back #2, i want to make that pick. Unless i'm getting back a sure fire player, like a Beal or McCollum, i'm not trading away that pick. and if we are taking back Wiggins, i need the Minny 21 pick too.

Well we aren’t getting the pick in that scenario. We are getting someone else to take Wiggins. This draft sucks balls, and this is kind of “win now” trade I’m pursuing, if Griffin wants to go that route.

Lavine next to Ball and Lauri next to Zion are sort of interesting to me.

The Pels would give up 150 points a game

Crewz is back:

Two GUARANTEES I can make for you --

1.) J Kidd will not be the next HC of the Pelicans

2.) The Pels wont hire a white coach unless/until a POC is hired elsewhere

Even if they wanted to hire someone like Atkinson now, they couldnt. Would have to wait for Lue/Idoka to be hired

i think this is the best reasoning i've come across so far:

(but i assume really we're near the top of the odds due to having tons of future picks...and might hire darvin ham)

I question the need for wings in the draft/free agency. Pels have an abundance of wings the organization likes ...BI, Jrue, Zo, JJ, Josh, NAW, Frank, Kenrich, and Didi. As constructed we played fast pace small ball, Griff and Langdon May want get bigger. Adding athletic front court Presence and being able to move BI and Zion to 2/3 and 3/4 positions provides crazy length, speed while getting bigger, and watching the development of some of the young wings. Smith in the draft, and Plumlee in FA in example.

Like 45% of these players you listed are wing players. BI and Josh are the only actual wing players who are most likely to stay. Didi isn’t a sure thing. Zo,JJ, Jrue, Frank, and even NAW are guards. Not wings

1s, 2s, and 3s are perimeter players who’s action and responsibilities are primarily On the wings, not the paint. Maybe backcourt frontcourt would be a more apt description. Point being we are overloaded at the position and undersized overall. Of the nine we’d be better served switching out three for frontcourt (PF, C) presence. Hayes, Zion, Melli, and Favors need reinforcements or upgrades if we are going to compete in the West.

I think we need a bigger wing that can play defense and shoot the 3 in the draft. That’s why Saddiq Bey and maybe Jalen Smith are my top two targets in the draft. If not then, then another 3 and D wing Nesmith and Vassell.

I like Bey and Smith .... Smith a little more. However, Vassel and Nesmith provide how much more than Josh and JJ? To me that’s the problem of adding more perimeter players, we already have whatever we’d draft or sign with our existing cap. Look at Rockets trying to hold up right now under an onslaught from James, Davis, and Morris. Big bank beats little bank. Anyone smaller than 6’8 225+ and athletic is not stopping them, and for that matter, the Clips, Nuggets, Mavericks, Kings and Grizzlies who are all stacked in the front court.

End of small ball? Rockets having a tough time competing against athletic big men. defense looks punch drunk from the onslaught. We need a couple of big thumpers.

Just a thought, but with HOF guys like Nash having the rep to be able jump the line right into head coaching jobs...what about Tim Duncan?

I was really shocked he came back to basketball at all. I figured he'd chill on an island somewhere forever. The fact that he came back to grind it out as an assistant is surprising to me.

I don't think there's a recently retired guy out there that would garner more immediate respect and command of a team than Duncan.

Don't know if he'd be a good HC or if he'd leave San Antonio, he's been there almost 25 years, but not gonna lie, i'd hire him in a second.

They aren't going to get much for him. With the league moving towards small ball, no one wants a big who can't defend.

I certainly don't want him on our team.

Actually the Lakers are killing the rockets with a bunch of athletic 6’9-6’10ish PFs (Morris, Kuzma, and AD). Howard and McGee aren’t really playing. That’s why I say Bey (6’8) or Smith (6’10) because they are bigger forwards that can play D and shoot the 3 off the bench.
