While Lopez isn't aligned age-wise with the rest of the Pelicans' young core, his success alongside Antetokounmpo speaks to how he might fit with Williamson. Giving him a two-year deal in the $35-40 million range would be an overpay, but they'll need to blow him away financially to pry him away from a Bucks team that just made it to the Eastern Conference Finals.

Even if the Pelicans keep both Okafor and Jackson, they can create room for a max contract by waiving two of Wood, Williams and Bertans. If they keep all three of them, they'd have $78.1 million in committed salary for 13 players, giving them $30.9 million of cap space.

There’s going to be a lot of salt when Griffin gets rid of Demps Basement Bargain bins. It has to happen if they want to get better. They are taking too many roster spots. They have to sign vets to fill those spots. Our young players are all better then those guys.

You're going to be pissed if the Pels waive an end of the bench replacement level player for a starting center?

Neither of them are basement bin players. Williams is certainly more of a 8th or 9th guy right now but I get the sense a lot of fans tuned out at the end of the season and missed how good Wood looks.

He shot 34% from three last season, and 17 and 8 on 23 minutes with us last season.

Center is the most replaceable position on the field these days and everyone wants to throw big money at over the hill guys that will
take away our flexibility in future free agencies for guys not on our time schedule.

How many guys are out there on our timeline at center who can shoot from distance?

And how many teams are chasing those same guys?

A center is a replaceable player these days. A stretch big man, however, is worth more than replacement level.

yes all those guys are on non guaranteed contracts that don’t have to be guaranteed until January. For all intents and purposes they are camp bodies including okafor

none are likely to make the team unless griffin just wants to have placeholder roster spots he can use

Uh. They are the very definition of replacement level players.

The proposal was tying up 20 mil a year for two years, including hamstringing us in the pretty nice free agency in two seasons, at the expense of one very promising guy that is trending in that direction at a fraction of the cost, that can play the 4 and 5, and another solid developmental role player.

It’s the price I think is silly. I don’t mind Lopez as a fit or player.

Some of you all wanting to Demps the shot out of this rebuild in here.

You know they have a million picks to add to the roster for several years right? You need to understand that there will be a lot of tough decisions to be made regarding personnel in the next couple of years. We have a lot of resources to build the right roster around Zion and have many chances to get it right. This is part of the domino effect for a team on the rise.
