Kings are closing in on an agreement with free agent Andre Iguodala.

Not sure how reliable the source is but according to Jonathan Santiago:
Chances Tyreke signs w/ NOLA low if they plan on using him at SF. Source close to Evans says Reke won’t “go anywhere for any amount as a 3.”

That's old news. Already came out that we're using him as a 6th man, presumably to play the 1-3 for 30mpg.

If they're coming close already then there's almost no doubt in my mind it's a 4 year max.

Quick question for my cap guys:

Can't the Kings sign Iggy, then go back and go over the cap to sign Reke, a RFA?

I think you can go over to re-sign a guy outright but you can't go over to match an RFA contract from someone else. Not a cap expert, though, so someone else will have to confirm.

I have a feeling this contract is going to be laughable...

"Likewise, the player's prior team cannot match an offer sheet that is greater than their room. They must have enough room -- again, either cap room or a satisfactory exception -- at the time they are given notice that the player has signed an offer sheet, and at all times until matching. They cannot make moves to create sufficient room after receiving an offer sheet."

I would think it would be unlikely they tied that much money up in Iguodala, Evans, Thormnton, and Mclemore even if they could. That is just my opinion obviously.

Pretty sure Evans's QO is still counting against their cap, so if they're about to sign Iggy, I think they tell the league that they don't want the 3 day window to match his deal, let the Pelicans have him so that they have the space for Iguodala (assuming that's allowed, but I can't imagine that it isn't).

My apologies for the old news, I was trying my best to explain to Macintosh504 that Tyreke Evans is not a forward, but he insisted otherwise.

Tyreke is holding up a ton of their cap space with a cap hold. That limits the Iggy deal.

If they pick up the QO, he's not restricted. If they remove the hold, he's not restricted and they can't sign him using Bird Rights, leaving only small deals available.

Once you use cap space to sign FA, you lose a ton of exceptions. Cap space is better than exception money in many ways, but everything has a price.

The hold is actually much larger, so even worse.

So they couldn't even give Iggy a Max without renouncing Evans first?
