If Woj says we’re serious about Murray- I believe him. I think Hawks are unlooking to unload and we are the best team with assets. Dyson could be a young defensive guy that could fit better with Trey especially offensively where he wont demand the ball. I think this one has some serious legs. I also think Herb aint going anywhere.

Good. Things change over the course of this day though.

I don't want to trade Herb or Dyson yet.

Basically both teams playing chicken and not giving in. Lets see what happens.

Could be Pels pushing Atlanta to lower their price just a hair knowing that their only other offer is D’lo and a 1st.

Wonder if this is a Pels leak? We probably can offer the best package if we want Okongowu that bad. Drive up the price and back down to see how high the bidding war can continue to go or not go before we call them back.

If we are pushing for Okongwu also (we most definitely are) then Herb would have to be included for salary purposes to keep us out of the tax.

I could see it being as simple as Hawks are demanding 2 1sts along with Herb and Jonas, and we are holding ground saying they don’t have a better offer than Herb, Jonas and a single 1st.

Does anyone really think Murray is worth gutting the roster

How is trading a center that Griffin doesn't seem to want to resign gutting the roster?

and giving up multiple picks?

Yeah. He was traded for 3 1st rounders and a pick swap 18 months ago. Since then, he signed a very team friendly contract and greatly improved his shooting. Maybe 5 1st rounders from any draft class will end up being a better player than Murray. The odds that we pick a player as good as Murray with any of the 1st rounders that would be traded are not very good.

Is Murray a missing piece for a championship?

Not for us. He's not a perfect fit, but he adds similar switchability to
What Andre Igoudala added to the Warriors. And it's clear that Willie wants to play that way.

think trading for Murray only makes sense if you don’t view CJ and BI as fits for the team through the next 3 years. How likely do we think it is that Griff is actively planning to move off those two? I doubt it very much

CJ has 2 years left on his contract, he’s played very well this season, but who knows if he even wants to keep playing when he’s 35 years old? They should definitely have a raised eyebrow looking at BI’s future potential deal. So, really yes they should be planning around a potential future without them, even if that isn’t their plan A.

I would guess Griff isn’t even interested in Murray unless for a trade rape but is using this as smoke and mirrors to get them to get onkongwu. Like “we shite it seems like you are too high on Murray, what about Onkongwu?” type shite

Why is everyone throwing Dyson/ Herbs name but nothing on Jose?

Wouldn't Naji (2) 1st or Naji, Jose, 1st make more sense than trading Dyson and a 1st?

Do you think that adding Jose is the equivalent of a 1st round pick?

I'm going to say I don't agree.

No point in getting Murray unless you are getting a defensive center as well. Having a defensive center will allow Herb to gamble more and purposely funnel players into where he wants them. Herb can funnel someone like Ja into what should be a bad contested shot but instead Ja just rises above JV for easy buckets.

Jose is one of those guys that you want on your roster, but isn’t going to move the needle in any trade talks.

I could be wrong, but from the way Griffin talks about CJ, I don't see Griffin trading for Murray without consulting CJ. CJ may be just as open to a similar deal as Westbrook was for LAC.

Murray is on a terrible team with not many options. His production should be much higher.

The trade is possible without Herb. You can use Dyson, JV and other salaries to make it work.
