Pelicans are in play for Dejounte Murray according to Chris Haynes.

Who would we send out from Pelicans? Do we get rid of CJ, or BI or Zion? What about Herb, DD, JV? This is not a trade I can wrap my feeble brain around.

I am not even sure what tier player Murray would be in. Thoughts, comments, concerns?

If a trade for Murray was to happen, I feel like Herb Jones would be the player traded by the Pels.

I think in terms of star power and fit Ingram makes the most sense for them (outside of Zion, who I think there is a 0% chance of us trading) and Ingram being out is probably the way Dejounte fits next to CJ

I’m just not sure if I love it

It would almost certainly be Val/Dyson/1st with the haggle being whether we send an additional 1st.

So we run with just Larry, Zeller, and Karlo as bigs?

I’m not sure man

Dejounte is not a good shooter.

Basically

I know I'm repeating myself but the only way it works is to then use BI for a major center upgrade in the offseason.

They aren’t trading BI for Murray, so my guess would be Hawks are asking for Herb.

I feel like Herb is off limits. He brings a lot including a cheap salary.

I would do Val/Dys/a first for Murray with the quickness. I feel like having a true PG will help in the playoffs and Murray is a good defender.

Hang up is we would have to figure something out at Center. I wouldn’t hate getting Okongwu with Murray but then we’d really have to give up something like Herb which I def don’t love.

Can't imagine a non-playoff team like Hawks wanting to keep a player like Herb. He would have much more value to a playoff team looking to fill a need. But I guess...you just never know.

Yeah to me there is no need to give Herb. Dyson/JV and picks is much better than the offers they’re getting. Lakers have bloated contract of Russell and some random first. Nets probably offering Dinwiddie and random first. Jazz probably some random vet and first. Pels are legit offering a young defensive first lottery pick on a rookie deal, a vet productive big on an expiring and whatever draft picks they want. If Pelicans want Murray he’s absolutely gettable with the picks we have over these other teams without throwing in Herb. If Hawks say no- just hang up.

I don't see the appeal of Murray but he's always been on loser teams so it's hard to gauge the fit

I mean he went to play in with spurs, was in playoffs last couple of years- im not sure what you define as loser teams? We would technically be a loser team as well then.

Pretty sure he's been to the playoffs more than the Pels since he joined the league.

This trade deadline does not have a lot of trades brewing. Only a few real team changing pieces go out.

What is here to be available in possible trades, as you said, are a handful of questionable character guards: Russell, who is playing well of late but is so polarizing as is Dinwiddie, who is a rogue, mostly disliked player.

Would Dejounte be in that ilk; is he a good teammate? He is a Klutch client. His salary is $17.7m, an UFA next year.

EDIT: has a four year $114 million vet contract extension
