And to be fair, I'm 100% behind canning Gentry and Dell. Gentry is a bum, and I melted when we hired him, and my opinions were confirmed.

Dell saved his job by trading for Cousins, but like I've said a few times, I'm the guy that has started two season long Fire Dell Demps threads. Obviously I'm not a fan.

We need a Pres of Basketball Ops with an outside opinion, desperately, that doesn't need Loomis to fricking do shite, that operates independently of him.

It just isn't going to happen, it seems.

And then Jordan Crawford happened. He almost single handedly made up for the lost production from Hield/Galloway. If they don't find Crawford then they probably would have been bad enough to tank naturally like you suggest. Would I give up Jordan Crawford and 5 wins for a 30% shot at Jimmy Butler? Yes. But what are the odds that a guy like Crawford would come in and do what he did? It just wasn't meant to be.

And what if Crawford isn't who we think he is? We've seen this song and dance too before over small sample sizes.

Figured the Pels can do it again

The problem is we have a football guy ultimately in charge of the Pels, because he is the proxy owner. TB is just too old and I doubt Gayle knows a damn thing. Loomis is our owner effectively, and Pres of BBall Ops. He's also downplayed his role, basically saying Demps is in charge...so I don't think Dell will fire himself.

Loomis won't even pay attention to the Pels until middle May, which is pretty much too late.

Things won't be changing this year. This is Dell's show. Gentry will get 25 games to turn it around next year.

If it fails again, they won't have a choice but to pull the plug early. Maybe then we see a modern NBA Front Office structure.

And the NFL schedule. I know that was implied but it can't be stated enough. Orlando fired their GM today. Mid April is when teams normally start front office and coaching changes, not early May.

Yes, that was my implication.

Teams do stuff right now. Early-Mid April.

The Pels do it once everyone is done making their moves, because Loomis has shite to do in the NFL.

It is ABSURD...but here we are.

Then he killed the tank for nothing and we better hope he shows his true colors before he gets his Ajinca money out of Demps. But I really don't think he's going to revert to being an inefficient chucker. I like his passing and his 3 point shot looks pretty good to me. He also seems to have a completely different attitude from when he entered the league. He's been humbled and knows his role.

Again, I would trade Crawford and 5 wins for the 5th place odds at a top 3 pick, but I don't think "don't bring in Jordan Crawford" would have been on anybody's "Things not to do when tanking" list.

Crawford def would have been a wrench in my plans but Diallo could have been playing all this time as well. See what you have at least. If that parlays into wins so be it. Then would actually be excited about next year

I'm pretty excited about next year. The glimpse I got of AD and Demarcus playing well together without the right parts around them has me perked up.

We will see what they do.

I am too. If they could manage to trade for Dragic or Bledsoe I think they become darkhorse contenders.

They have two (possibly 3) big pieces.

If they can get some shooters and a legit set-up man to help Jrue...I'll be really perked up.

i dunno. dude still gets tons of shots up (18/per36). to be fair, part of that is the Pels often needed him to do that.

39% from 3 is a huge outlier for him. maybe he's gotten better from deep over time. but i'm not holding my breath on him repeating that % from 3....or really any %s from 0-16 feet.

think McNamara had it right on the pod- he's a 4th guard. if they're counting on more than that, i think we will be disappointed.

And he's getting paid like one.

HOPEFULLY they can make enough moves this summer to where he is a 3rd or 4th guard and we don't need to rely on him as much. Still like him though.

1 Creator and shooters shooters shooters shooters shooters. That's what I'm all about.

I mean, if you hit the lottery and can trade for a Butler level player that's a different story, obviously.

They've said they like the pairing for Crawford and Moore off the bench. I don't think they see him as more than a 4th guard either.

It is, but he's had multiple years to work on it. He shot 35.5% from 3 in DLeague this season compared to 30.9% 2 years ago. This team also seems to be decent at improving shooting. I get the caution, but history is the only thing that says it might not be real. This isn't like Norris Cole for half a season under Monty where he was just hot while hitting a ton of bad shots he shouldn't have been taking.

I mean we have to give the guy some credit. He wasn't just good, but crazy good for 19 games. It was also immediately when he stepped on the court.

I hate to see such a pessimistic view about encouraging results. You were very pessimistic on Cousins eventhough he came in and did the right things after the trade.

Crawford and Cousins were great to see to finish out the year.

Diallo looks like a solid prospect to continue to grow over the summer. Could really see him taking off as a role player working with Cousins and Davis.

on paper, sure I guess. AD and Cousins are top 10 players on paper. How do we explain the lack of wins surrounding their 2 teams over the last few years?

its just hard for me to get excited. I get excited every year to the point where i keep renewing season tickets. Im done getting excited and giving them money. Our secondary players are terrible
