To be fair, they didn't really have a choice with Haliburton out.

You mean the Pels did, as that should be our 5th overall pick.

I get it, they are in win-now mode with Haliburton and made moves accordingly.

Was it wreckless and could it blow up in their faces next year? Sure, but those are the type of risks smaller market franchises have to take in the NBA unfortunately.

Regardless though, they had to tank this year.

The Grizzlies getting a top 3 pick is more bothersome to me than anything else. If they get the right guy at 3, they're putting the Pelicans in the basement of the division.

If the 3 pick is Michael Jordan. That's a pretty mid roster now and Ja's not getting any wiser or healthier.

Yeah I’m not worried about the grizzlies becoming the spurs or rockets just yet. They have a ways to go

I don’t think anyone thought the 2019 draft was generational lol. Zion as a prospect was. That’s about it.

Generational gets thrown around way too much when it comes to drafts and prospects tho. None of these players seem generational. But the top 4 are very elite. It’s a very good draft. Similar to last year

Meh. At the time, the threesome of Zion, Ja, and Barrett were all looked at as having franchise cornerstone potential.

Terrible trade because they also gave up Mathurin and a future 1st. We effectively gave up 5 and 8 for Queen. The difference is they know what Zubac is (and not worth that much IMO). We are hoping on a lottery ticket.

I don't know the NBA well enough to say, other than so many of the NBA trades seem wackadoddle to me. 2 firsts (with a 50% or so chance it would be 1; but if it was 2, it would be #5) for a journeyman center seems nuts. Trading unprotected picks to move up in a draft is obviously nuts.

And whoever traded the best player in the NBA and 5 first round picks to OKC for Paul George (who OKC was trying to trade) is ....whew.

Clippers

Yes, the trade of Paul George from the Oklahoma City Thunder to the Los Angeles Clippers is often considered one of the greatest trades in NBA history. The Thunder received a massive haul, including Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and multiple first-round picks, which helped them build a championship-winning team.

No. Especially not in this draft.
