Outside the box……what about Colin Sexton?

I believe that our offense gets stagnant because we don’t have a ton of creation and advantage creators. CJ is more of a shot maker, and as great as BI is, he’s on the slow footed side. When you get to the playoffs, speed and size becomes way more apparent.

Colin Sexton is still more scorer than table setter. But he’s an absolute bull of a ball player and a blur. Per 36 this year he was:

25.3 points, 6.6 assists and 3.6 rebounds, 48.7%, 39.4%, 85.9%

He’s 25 years old, 2 years left at $18 per. Bama guy, which is our MO. I think his injury and playing for a Jazz team not in the public eye has caused people to forget how good he can be. IF we get serious about restructuring around Zion (which I’m doubtful), this is an under the radar guy that I feel is attainable.

Would not be upset if we sent BI to Utah for Sexton and Kessler, 2 1sts, save money in the trade b/c Utah has space so we can go make another trade for someone like Jonathon Isaac, who is back to playing great defense and can shoot the three.

I really like what Sexton did this year. Dont like his defensive fit with CJ though.

Sexton and Markkanen for BI works perfectly in the ESPN trade machine. I would consider this the perfect trade, as both of them have a PER of over 20, they help balance the roster, and they both cost 17mil per season the next 2 years.

Utah only does that if they get a few picks that’s for sure. I’d be game for it.

I truly dont think the Jazz trade Lauri. He would be an interesting fit here likely replacing BI. Small ball lineup would be great, but in a traditional starting lineup it would be awkward on defense.

Walker is another guy I love, but just don’t think he fits with Zion at all. He will be completely uncovered on offense and everything would be clogged. As a part of a deal and a super sub big, I absolutely wouldn’t turn him down. Not sure what the Jazz do with him.

You'll probably have to give all your 1sts and 1 of Herb and Trey to get Lauri AND Sexton for BI lol.

We would have to give more than one first just for Lauri for BI imo.

I'm not sure Utah would even do it then.

I disagree with this. He would be the perfect player to be in the "dunker" spot for this team. Val can't do it because he has no vertical and larry cant do it because he's too small/knees can't go like they used to. I'm not sure about Kessler's hands, but to be the perfect fit in this scenario he'd need to have great hands from the quick passes he'd get from Zion when drawing help at the rim. We've seen time and time again when Zion penetrates and has a nice pass to larry only for larry to not be able to dunk/finish.

Kessler can protect the rim, neither Val nor Larry can protect the rim.

Need a traditional backup big and a big forward or two, but that would be a fun team.

(Its not happening though)

He's one of the best in the league at it, and one of the few guys who Zion does not do well against, which is why we keep losing to them.

Zion will destroy Gobert for whatever reason, but Kessler gives him tons of fits.

I agree that he's not the perfect fit. I want a shooter to play the 5, but if i'm going to have a traditional defensive 5, then I don't know if you can find better value right now than Kessler and his 2 years left at $3M. And i say that knowing guys like Duren or Mark Williams are better, but they are very likely not available.

I'll also point out that i mentioned Jonathon Isaac. He finished with the 2nd best DRtg in the league, better than Gobert (had to play 50+ games for that ranking). He also had the 4th best Opp FG% in the league at 44.2%. Gobert was at 44.3%.
He only took 112 3's this year, but he made them at 38%
I would very much like to have him as the backup than Larry, and I'd prefer to keep Larry too.
Kessler/Larry/Isaac would be a nice rotation at the 5.

Correct, we'd have to give up a young player and picks.

Does Utah really want more picks? I guess, but they have like 15 future firsts
