Is this the yearly thread where fans bitch that players at their highest value are "untradeable" only to bitch later that "we should have traded them at their highest value"?

I agree that Herb is better used in a trade for an upgrade BUT you don't walk away from a 1st/ swap/ role player.
You do if the trade isn't an upgrade. You don't trade just to trade a player. Clarke brings a fraction of what Herb does and the first is 2 years away and top 6 protected.

WE ARE GETTING A 1st AND SWAP. Again y'all are actually insane.... You want to get a player of equal value and a team just give you a 1st and swap for free??

19.5pts/ 5reb/ 4ast/ .7 stl = (1) 1st + (1) 2nd

10pts/ 4reb/ 3ast/ 1.6 stl = (1) 1st + (1) swap

So even without a player attached the return for Herb would be better than BI who is a better player than Herb. AND YALL WANT A LEGIT PLAYER BACK TOO??? Absolutely insane and unrealistic.

We could trade Jose + Herb for (1) 1st, (1) swap, (2) 2nds and y'all would be upset that we got all that from NOTHING... 2 undrafted players that won't ever lead us anywhere in the grand scheme.

At this point I hope we trade them both just to end these dumbass obsessions.

Discussions about Herb/ Jose make the overall IQ of this board drop significantly.

I've got no interest in cheering for a team with a wannabe thug who is never on the court either b/c he's a fricking idiot or hurt, and a lazy fatass who's also never on the court as the two best players.
Morant is going to eventually do something stupid and end up in jail. He thinks he's hard, but someone who's actually hard that has nothing to lose is going to push him enough to make him do something too stupid at some point.

I agree...I can't imagine having Morant AND Zion as your two best players. It was bad enough...with Zion AND Ingram.

Celtics are in for some HUGE changes...as are several other teams.

Bottom line...the Pels waited waaaay too long to get rid of Ingram...and have already gone waaaay too long to get rid of Zion. I realize the Pels probably tried their best to move these 2 guys earlier...but...it's still caused a horrible mess...for the future of the Pelicans.

On Herb...it's just a sad situation...where the franchise will probably be MUCH better off in the long run...by going ahead and getting some VERY good value...by trading him to a team who would find him MUCH more valuable in their current condition...than the Pels would...in their current condition.

He wants to trade everything that walks.
Picks a new target every season.

He’s not even right about that either. Herb went 35th overall in the draft.

If we’re talking about trading an above average player on a great contract for basically draft picks, might as well blow up the whole team.

Yeah! That guy wants to keep changing players and trading assets until we have a competent contending team, what an idiot!

Reducing him to his actual averages? Wtf does that even mean? You want me to act like he averages 20/6/6 for the sake of overvaluing him like y'all?

That’s exactly what they want so they read these fantasy trades like they are a soon to be reality.

We could likely move Herb to the 76ers to swap the 3 and 7 picks. That’s the ask and his value. Agree with below it’s just too much for Ace.

A swap may or may not even be worth anything. Not all 1sts are the same. The one you are talking about is in TWO YEARS AND TOP 6 protected?

Do you even read what you write? How can you compare a player who is cost controlled on a very good contract through 2027 with a player who wanted a near max deal and was on an expiring deal? OF COURSE, the return would be different. Common sense.

In terms of value, Herb's contract is pretty much that of a high end 1st rookie contract: 3/42mil left of what is owed.

For comparison, Reed Sheppard (3rd overall pick) sat on the bench and as 3/35mil left on his contract.

He is a 3&D wing that literally changes the complexion of your defense. You are not giving that up for peanuts.

No, I want you to act like his impact goes beyond points rebounds and assists. It's disingenuous to only use those numbers as a valuation.

Not sure you should be lecturing anybody about low IQ posts when you’re attempting to ignore contract differences and defensive contributions when assessing Herb’s trade value.

You failing to factor their contract situations into the equation. One was on an expiring deal that is bound to turn into a negative value long term deal. Of course the return was horrible. Herb is on one of the best contracts in the league.

This is just another indictment of Griffs incompetence. BI shoulda been traded years ago.

Looking back, he should have been traded after that series against the Suns. His value was probably at its highest at that point.
