On the plus side, if the Pels make it through the Play In, Denver may be the best matchup

Memphis has out worked and out physicalled the Pels, Sac loves shooting 3s, and Phoenix has the superstar fire power.
I’ve never been a big believer in Denver as a playoff team because of their defense. It feels like a series we’d have a chance at repeating last season and looking competitive.
IF they get their shot together and make it through the Play In.

Thats a huge IF. Unless Edwards breaks hand punching Towns we’re not getting in lol

Winning games on a mountain against a team that is use to playing on a mountain is not going to be easy. We would need to steal at least one.

I kinda feel the same way -- certainly if we don't have Zion (who knows). Herb has absolutely owned Jamal Murray, and JV can defend Jokic as well as anyone.
Without Zion, I wouldn't like our chances against any of the top four seeds, but I like the Denver matchup the best.
With Zion, I like us against all of the them, of course.
But we obviously have less than a 50% chance of making the playoffs now, though I do like us in both games on their own.

No. You got a gift last Denver game. They rested Jokic.

I honestly don't day this as a Debbie downer or pessimist, it's more realist imo... But I don't think it matters.
I don't think we're winning a series or going past 5 or 6 with either Denver or Memphis.

What do you guys think we did last year?
To do more than that would require Zion not just to play, but to be in the kind of shape it usually takes a month or more of playing to get into. He won’t be so I have no hopes of getting past the first round. I just don’t want them to look like they don’t belong.

Who honestly gives a frick if we take Denver or Memphis to 6 games?
It was fun last year because we snuck into the playoffs when we had zero expectations heading into that season.
Not the same scenario this season. We should be ashamed that we're having to go through the play-in for a second straight year.

Agreed. We weren’t supposed to be in the same exact spot this year. I realize our record is technically better, but it should be considering Zion played some games and the rest of our roster had zero turnover other than adding Dyson.
This is a failed season unless we make it out of the first round. And heads will deserve to roll, whether it’s CJ (trade), Zion (trade), medical staff (kill or fire), assistant coaching staff (get Willie real help), Griffin (fired).
Not saying all of these things are will need to happen, but at least 1-2 of them do unless we are just satisfied with mediocrity and being a fringe play in team every season.

I hate to break it to you. No heads will roll. Maybe, and only maybe the training staff. The pelicans will sell this as the first winning season since 2017 and backto back postseason play. I completely agree with your points but it wont be framed that way and you won’t see many if any changes.

your assertion is not truly the only answer besides your answer.
beating the #1 seed in a 7 game series should not be the sole metric.
if the pels had won 3 last shot games they actually lost, either by ft missed or other team hit a 3 they are in 6th right now. same guys. only instead of playing the 2 time mvp the pels get the kings.

Kings would run us off the floor even faster than Denver I think.
