For purposes of this, we should include players that are late first, as we may try and move these picks to a competitive team in the late first that doesn't want another guaranteed contract.

So late first guys.

AND...we have to look at international prospects. If we keep these picks, at least two will be international draft and stash prospects.

These will be the hardest to identify as the regular draft blogs don't know who a lot of these guys are. I don't think anyone on here discussed Didi before he was picked last year.

But we can still try. So here are some guys to consider that are either late 1st, early 2nd, or International Draft and Stash guys:

Late first or Early 2nd Guys:
Leandro Bolmaro
Jalen Smith
Tyler Bey
Vernon Carey
Jaden McDaniels
Jah'mius Ramsey
Udoka Azuibuke
Killian Tillie

There are about 20 guys extra to consider for that, so please feel free to add and discuss guys you like.

International Draft and Stash guys are going to be soo hard to judge right now. We may have to add later, and we really don't know the guys on teams radars. I did my best to find some names.

Paul Eboua
Marko Simonovic
Borisa Simanic
Abdoulaye N'Doye
Yam Madar
Amar Sylla
Georgios Kalaitzakis
Rokas Jokubaitis
Arturs Kurucs (Langdon drafted his brother)

If there is anyone you'd like to bring up or discuss, feel free.

I would package some of these picks to get into the 20s to snag Desmond Bane or Xavier Tillman.

If we keep all 3, at least 2 will be draft and stash. We aren't going into the season with 4 rookies on the roster.

Don't think Jalen Smith makes it past the 20 range and maybe makes it to the lottery.

Riller and then draft and stash the other 2.

I don't know anything about the foreign draft and stash guys yet.

I don't necessarily agree. Historically, 2nd-round picks have a five-year success rate of 20%. That is, five years after being drafted, only 20% of 2nd-round picks are still playing in the NBA. That rate is not higher for European picks than American picks.

In all likelihood, if we actually drafted three American players with those picks, then only one of them would be good enough for the spot on the team, and the other two could get two-way contracts or be released.

The downside this year is that there's no summer league to get a head start evaluating 2nd-round picks.

Well the real answer is we won’t keep all of those picks. They’ll be used in some capacity this offseason.

But all you have to do is look at Langdon’s history in Brooklyn and last year, his influence over all of those drafts, and even as a scout in SA.

We will take an international draft and stash with at least one if we have two picks in the 2nd. Guaranteed.

I could also see them taking a guy like Tillie, a. International player that played at Gonzaga. He’s easily a 1st rounder with his skill set if not for his injury history. A Center that shoots 3s.

He’s just often injured. You take a Chance in the 2nd on that skill set.

I agree that all that is likely. I expect us to draft at least one international stash, and I expect us to package a pick or two in a trade in the offseason, or to package picks to move up in the draft.

My only point was that we don't have to do that. There's really nothing wrong with using all our 2nd-round draft picks, and after camp, signing the one of them that you like the best, giving another one a two-way contract, and releasing the third one.

Sure but we aren’t going to do that, and Langdon clearly likes and prefers the Euro stash approach.

One aspect of that: the stashed player remains an “asset” for you that you can trade rights to. If a guy does alright in Euro then next year you can trade his rights even if he’s not coming over yet (or ever).

Drafting a guy and then cutting him contains no future value, even if small. That’s an added dimension you have to think about.

How about Skylar Mays? He was a 4 year starter that got better every year. Has great size for a PG. Solid defender. Streaky shooter, but he has improved a lot. Older prospect. But could be a solid back up for Ball. Projected in the 2nd. So we would have multiple shots at him. Fills a need..

I am only interested in seniors and international guys. Do not want freshman/sophomores in the 2nd round.

Why? Seniors in the 2nd round do not have a higher success rate.

That’s super interesting. Juniors, International Prospects, then Sophomores have the highest 2nd round success in that order.

There are successful seniors it all depends on the player. But that is super interesting.

I don't know how they are compiling that data, or how they are coming to the conclusions they are coming to, but they are wrong.
Google 2019 nba draft, click on wikipedia link, look through the second round and undrafted list. keep going back each year and look at it. I guarantee you there are many more juniors and seniors who end up being impact players than freshman. Diallo is considered a success to this data. He is not what i consider success. Can Diallo log significant minutes on a playoff team? He played a total of 10 minutes in the bubble for phoenix in 8 games.

2018 players who actually make a difference on their team:
Duncan Robinson senior
Kendrick Nunn senior
Alonzo Trier junior
Wenyen Gabriel sophmore
Gary Trent Jr Freshman
Mitchell Robinson Freshman i guess
Devontae Graham senior

2017:
Dillon Brooks junior
Thomas Bryant sophomore
Monte Morris senior
Sterling Brown senior

2016:
Brogdon senior
VanVleet senior
Bryn Forbes senior
Yogi Ferrell senior
Caruso senior
Daniel House senior
Wayne Selden senior
Zubac international

2015:
Montrez Harrell junior
Richaun Holmes senior
Josh Richardson senior
Pat Connaughton senior
Royce Oneal senior
Christian Wood sophmore
TJ McConnell senior

So where are all these freshman and sophomores that are making an impact on teams?
THe data you linked looked at a 5 year span from 2010 to 2014, i think, and i have no idea what they were looking at from that either, b/c if i keep going back, you'll find more of the same, mostly seniors being impact players on teams.

Look at the last 5 years and tell me you'd rather a freshman over a senior. Would you like me to add freshman Frank Jackson to the list? If we were in the playoffs, would Frank Jackson play a minute?
