Except that we will probably use that space.
On what this season? I don't see any realistic probabilities that I'd want to commit to for the long term. I get the sense that there will be more options available next offseason.

Morrow comes to mind, and we still don't have a starting SF in our roster, but I do agree that dumping Gordon just for the sake of it is stupid.

A backup PG, a young SF and an old SF. Jameer Nelson, Richard Hamilton and PJ Tucker for instance.
Holiday/Nelson/Smith
Tyreke/Rivers
Hamilton/Tucker
AD/Ryno/Young
Asik/Ajinca/Withey
That's a pretty solid roster. And the guys you bring in don't have to be the 3 guys I listed, the point is the team would benefit from turning Gordon's salary into multiple role players.

Don't get me wrong, I'd jump at the opportunity. I was really getting around to saying that cap space used unwisely could make things worse.

I could definitely get on board with that. Any ideas what Pierce will get? He'll probably want to resign with the Nets at KG, no? I don't care for the guy but he would be a great fit. His defensive liabilities would be covered by Asik/AD.

He's looking for two years at 10M each, but I don't see guys like him willing to play for a team like us, he's probably looking for a contender (same goes for Richard Jefferson).

He's looking for 2/$18, but supposedly he played lots of stretch 4 for the Nets last year which tells me he doesn't have what it takes to guard SFs anymore so I'm not really that interested.

Probably the guy that just spent a full day cursing out the entire board a few days ago.

Nope, wasn't me.
Yep, thanks : )

I'd be disappointed if Gordon turns into those 3. Or did you mean Jordan Hamilton?

Fill it in with any 3 you like. I probably wouldn't want Nelson either because he's probably looking for a longer deal. The only guy I'd give more than 1 or 2 years to is the young cheap SF.

Yeah, doesn't appear that way. Apologies for that.

If it were that easy, I would totally agree, but the signings thus far makes me think we'll just overpay someone else.

No problem, and I might curse for more than a day if we keep Gordon and he injures his knee again =)

He was. The Nets didn't take off until Lopez got hurt and they went small playing Livingston, Williams, Johnson, Pierce, and Garnett/Plumlee as their best 5. Their 4 most used 5 man lineups all featured Pierce as a 4. When you add their bench guys (AK47, Teletovic, Anderson, Blatche) it is a funky, small ball team.
Lowe had a piece detailing their rise during the 2nd half of the season.

Spoke to two different NBA people tonight, and both think Cleveland is headed for some heartbreak. James staying in Miami.
Riley is like Tywin Lannister ... {removed spoilers}
No winds blowing or percentage to put on it. Just passing some thoughts from a few insiders. Do with it what you will.

At this point, I hope he stays in Miami just because Sheridan's a douche and he is pretty much guaranteeing he's going to Cleveland.

I am ready for this to end one way or another.

They would need another ball handler. Rivers likely isnt ready and who knows what Smith will bring.
Depending on prices, Mo Williams, Beno Udrih, Rodney Stuckey, Bayless would be options. Guys like Jimmer or Troy Daniels might be in the mix if they think Rivers/Smith can handle the ball. They can shoot.
As for SF, Jordan Hamilton would be worth a look. I will get killed for it, but Aminu as a defensive 3/4 is worth a look. Wes Johnson is a minimum guy that could fit. R Jeff would be worth a look. I believe Carter and Marion will be renounced if Parsons goes to Dallas. Pels likely don't have the ammo but you never know.
Of course, if they use the space to keep Morrow that works too.
Edit- It could also mean the return of Roberts. Board Meltdown would be epic.
