Someone is downvoting us?
The question w/ Holiday is if he is good enough to be a 2nd or 3rd best guy on a contender? I don't think so at this point- not to say he can't get there. It's just a heavy investment for what presumably is your 2nd best player. I'm just not sure why Demps can't get lottery protection on his picks.
It's really not about Noel or Burke or MCW or whomever this year. It's the picks plus the cap space.

Hes good ya but one of those picks would have definitely turned out to be a good young pg.
Actually, no.

I also am a bit perplexed by the PJ Tucker hype train. I had barely even heard of the guy until I started looking into him. When I did look into him all I could think is..."Ok...what am I missing here?"
I mean, he looks ok. But I'm not sure he's any massive upgrade.

As soon as EG is gone we'll have cap space

I'm not super pumped about him, but he does seem like a better shooting version of Aminu.

Ya the rookie contracts are key. It allows us to fill our needs in free agency. And I'm pretty sure that two draft picks, one being potentially mcw who did pan out and all the talent this year in the draft class at pg... One of those picks would have been solid(Peyton nearly dropped a triple double yesterday and looks so solid) . Take the bias opinion out of it and you will see that there is no way you can defend this trade.

Oh kinda like Jrue holiday
Posted on 7/9/14 at 9:01 am to Peliclown
Except that he can shoot and doesn't have a shite assist/TO ratio.
ETA: MCW shot 40% from the field and 26% from 3. That's awful. Find a season where Jrue was that bad. I'll be waiting.

I have no faith that Burke or MCW will be more than C level players. Holiday is clearly a B level player. The way to attack the Holiday trade is with Kyle Lowry, not MCW. But this is a beaten to death debate that probably doesn't need to be rehashed in this thread.

Mcw had 441ast compared to holidays 280 in his rookie season.
Mcw had 130 steals and 43 blocks... Oh did I mention he's 6'6.
Jrue had 79 steals and 18 blocks
Mcw scored 1167 pts compared to holidays 587.
Oh and we gave up a 10th pick in the, best draft class since LeBron. So I think I'd accept the slightly lower shooting percentage and the crappy 3pt shooting that he can develop.

is it known that we would've taken MCW with the 6th pick or is he just being selected because he's the best one to make an argument with?
Posted on 7/9/14 at 9:15 am to Fearthehat0307
I said potentially could have got him then he singled out mcw for discussion

It is known that this is the "Official Pelicans Free Agency Thread". There is a thread just 6 threads beneath this one called Defending the Holiday Trade

You are assuming MCW is the pick. This revisionist history stuff is very annoying. If the 2013 draft were re-drafted, MCW would go 2 at the latest, MAYBE behind Oladipo.
Did you see the names drafted at 10 or after? None of them are considered world beaters. In fact, that mediocre 2013 draft looks deeper on paper to me.

Not like there's any pelicans information being reported in here anyways. It's all other teams moves or twitter updates.
Pg was a position of need at the time so he was on our draft board along with others, so there was a chance.
It was well known that the lottery picks this year could have been had, and if we had our 10th pick we could make a move into a early draft pick.

It's about free agency, and other teams moves affect our moves. Heaven help the poor bastard that comes to this thread hoping to keep up with FA news only to find the last few pages filled with arguments that belong in another thread that just happens to be a current thread on the first page. #ThisIsWhyWeCantHaveNiceThings

I said since as in that class was better than this one. It's considered better then all others between then and now based on deep potential.
