The problem is that we'd also need a taker for salary

Including cap holds, before signing Parsons or brining in Bosh I believe they are only around 50mil, if they lose both Lin and Asik without taking salary back.

Parsons only has a 1mil cap hold

If this scenario happened, how much more space would be needed to take on Asik?

It all depends on what Morrow signs for with OKC. We need to send about $5.6 million total out. If Morrow signs for the full MLE, $5.3 million then including Melvin Ely's $1.2 million voidable contract would be enough to make a valid 3 way trade for Asik. If he only signs for $3 million you'd probably have to send out Ely, Babbit, and Southerland. You can swap one of those out for Ajinca if OKC has any interest and you'd rather keep SF depth than Big depth.

It may be for now. It won't be if Dallas signs him to an offer sheet.

That was my point. If he signs an offer before they make Bosh happen, it could severely hamper their build.

I think if something is happening with Bosh, it'll happen as soon as the moratorium is lifted. Probably the same with Parsons, though.

the offer sheet would hit the mavs cap right away, not the rockets. rockets would have 72 hours to make their deals/sign their FA's, whatever, then match the offer to parsons after going over the cap

Actually, I think they get hit with the full amount of the offer sheet until they officially decline to match. TigerinATL could probably clear that up, though.

I seem to recall from the DeAndre Jordan situation about 4 years ago that cgrand is actually correct.

The Clip Show was thought to be over the cap and unable to put in an amnesty bid on Chauncey Billups, yet they were able to do so by not matching Jordan until after the bid process was done.

I understand that, as we all wanted to sit on Gordon's Phx offer until we had to accept, but I didn't remember how it affected us.

I'm wondering what the Orlando office has in mind. That's a lot of money and years for Frye considering he missed a season recently for heart problems.
