Far from a guarantee that we can or would sign Miles.

the point of the fantasy trade was to sign a SF like Miles.

Actually, he is.

I'd rather Mayo/Miles(or any decent 3) than Gordon, and i'm actually not that down on Gordon. I do think he's one of the top 10 SG in the league. Problem with him is he makes a lot of money and does nothing in the 4th quarter for us and while he can be aggressive, the refs absolutely hate him and give him zero calls when he drives.

If Gordon is not going to be our playmaker going forward, then i'd rather pay 2 guys role player money, than 1 guy superstar money who plays like a role player.

He's listed as a 3/4. I believe he can play either

He is more of a center than a SF

Neither are more of a 3 than Evans. That's my point. The trade ships Ryno without addressing our biggest need.

Part of the reason I don't post on here as often as I used to. Tired of arguing with the Danman's of the board about this. He's worth about half his pay, bitch about that but not everyone's going to be a Ryan Anderson or Drew Brees where they are always posting on Twitter how much they love the city, community, etc. Those guys are great & you want as many of those as you can get but constantly calling the dude Sandy Vag is pretty comical.
I agree.

Gordon's problem is that his body betrayed him. He's never been a bad guy or locker room problem. And he's still a good player, fwiw, just not what he could've been. Not what his contract says he should be. He was an above the rim player who looked like he'd been in the all star game every year. Injuries stripped him of that an now he's having to learn how to play like a guy 10 years older than he actually is.

It seems like the over-the-top Gordon hate by the screamers is actually starting to help Gordon win some support back. Absolutely fitting.

I know, i'm just a little salty that everything our GM does is immediately viewed through a, "this guy is a moron," prism. While its seem reporters actually search out reasonable rationales behind moves of certain FOs

Ever since his first year, he's been quiet about everything.

Before his injury he was a 21/3/4 player shooting 45/37/78. That's good for such a thin position in this league. Too bad for us, he's got bad knees.

WTF is going on with guard salaries?

Meeks got $6m a year from the Walrus and Avery Bradley just got about $8m a year from Ainge.

It's simple supply and demand. It was already going to be a players market with more cap space than talent, and then the league went and gave the market a $150 million cash injection with the cap increase.

If we trade Gordon, I won't cry but from what's being said, this is the first offseason where he will be able to train full speed since he's been here. Do we really want to sell super low on his potential? Hell, he's still only 25. Although I guess if it's between Rivers and Gordon, I'll take Rivers and his salary over Gordon's if it means fitting Asik in here.

Wasted 11,000th post on you EG, c'mon

What is the salary cap figure? I know it was projected to be 63 something, but I can't find the official number.

Yeah, that $150m number works out then.

$5m increase x 30 teams = $150m more available cap space to throw at players.

The estimate is all I have seen. I would expect the real figure to come out soon though, they should have rolled the fiscal year over yesterday and know the numbers they are dealing with by now.

FWIW:

Michael Scotto: Sources: Anthony Morrow, one of the league's best shooters, has received interest from 12 teams around the league since free agency began.

^off hoopshype, how u like our chances?

Unfortunately, I'm afraid Morrow is going to be out of our price range, and we don't have Bird Rights on him to go over the cap to sign him.

I know Morrow liked it here, but he's most likely gonna try to get as much as he possibly can.

At this time last year he didn't even know if he'd be in the league. Now he has multiple teams after him. Gotta cash in.

He absolutely should find the biggest offer. This isn't a guy who has been banking big bucks for years and getting supplemented by endorsements. I'd love to have him back, but guys in his pay grade should take as much as they can get.

I don't like our chances at all. It's almost looking like we'd need to get both Asik and the SF position handled in trades so we can save the full MLE for Morrow. One thing in his favor is that we could lose Gordon or Rivers. If you have both of those guys on the roster then Morrow becomes an expensive luxury at $5 million.
