Pels will have to use cap space for Ennis regardless of other teams are interested, so there is no benefit to the QO. Only a possible downside which is his cap hold, which is bigger than an empty cap hold

Well that's not true crew. Ennis can sign with any team and we have no say in it. That is a HUGE difference.

If they have a good relationship with Ennis and he wants to return, they can ask him to bring any offers back to them to match which is what Crewz suggested. It is in Ennis' best interest to return to us with an offer to match or beat. Slight trust component involved, but if you get burned for an end of bench player who cares.

As free agency gets started, Portland RFA guard Allen Crabbe has changed representation. He hired Aaron Mintz and Ty Sullivan of CAA Sports.

Does this mean Crabbe isn't getting the big offers his other agent promised?

Also, the RFA designation can scare off potential offers. It might be as simple as Ennis asked to not be tendered with the promise of giving the Pels a chance to match. Why that didn't happen with Frazier, probably they need to keep Frazier more, or maybe Frazier just didn't ask.

That would give me serious concerns about this organization if they were to just take his word for it.

Probably realizes that he's going to have to play hard ball with Portland, if they plan on throwing out cash for Parsons and for Howard. Although they have his Bird Rights, they may want to lowball him because they are spending so much on the other two.

I can't emphasize enough that unrestricted free agency works, essentially, like RFA outside of the stars and the guys who have bad relationships with the team. Talk to any GM and he will tell you the same. If you think someone like E'Twann Moore isn't gonna shop his best offer to the Bulls and give them a chance to match, then you just don't know how free agency works and that is no longer my fault

The RFA designation USED TO scare off teams for the reason you said. Not this year. Not when teams have 50 million. They don't care if 3-5 is tied up for 3 days

It's a new era in every way

There is a quid pro quo involved. He gets the RFA stigma lifted (though I doubt that is too much of a negative this offseason) and we get the ability to offer a tier 1 max. Again, it is in his best interest to bring any offers he receives back to us to beat anyways so the trust component is minor.

I'm hearing some murmurs about the Pelicans and Tyler Johnson for close to $10 mil a year.

He's very redundant with Hield. I don't see them really wanting to bring him back, unless it's on a 1 year deal or something weird.

Reserve guard for the Heat. Good defense and shooting.

In all seriousness, if and when Pels sign Johnson, I want people to understand his contract would look like this for the Heat

5-5-15-15

But for the Pels, if Heat don't match, it would count as

10-10-10-10
