There are strong indications they don't want to go into the tax. I wouldn't be surprised if Dante doesn't even come back unless he takes the minimum.

My guess at this point is we see one vet minimum and James Young/Darrius Miller.

I still believe a guy like Michael Beasley helps this team more than Dante.

I would love to have Beasley at the 3. Always loved his game. Question is how do you bring him to New Orleans?

Exactly, we all know the offer was pulled but why, why, why? It feel like Demps is like Ned Stark playing in the Game of Thrones. Naive to what's going on around him and out of his element.

what ATL said makes sense
there had to have been a second deal to move money that fell thru
no doubt if that's true that Young's agent knew what the dealio was and had a plan B with GS

or...it could be that our GM stinks

either, or

David Aldridge? @daldridgetnt
Would think Arron Afflalo will be swooped up soon. Wolves looked at him hard before going for Jamal Crawford. Shot 41 % on threes last year.

Why Beasley?

How much would he cost?

Does he play solid defense?

Just going by stats, he seems like a 6'10" (listed height) SF who would be a minimal upgrade at best over Hill depending on his defense.

Average rebounder (that's being generous), average outside shooter... What's the appeal?

The past three seasons he's played about 105 games total.

Admittedly, I'm no GM. I don't know much about his game other than that he was highly touted coming out of college and never really lived up to the potential.

He had one above-average offensive season, and his 3pt shooting numbers vary widely from season to season.

If he's a great defender who can guard multiple positions, he might be a small upgrade over Solo, but his 3pt%s aren't good enough to commit anything more than the minimum, IMO.

Admittedly, I could be totally wrong, because 85% of my analysis is going off stats.

If I'm wrong, please explain how Beasley makes this team better?

Would definitely be a good addition at this point. Not sure what his asking price would be.

I mean Beasley shot 42% on 3-pointers last season, granted he only took about 47. Still he has multiple seasons shooting above 37% from 3.

Beyond that he shot 53% from the field.

He also plays the 4 at this point and maybe in a pinch the 3.

He is bad on D. But our bench at this point needs someone to run the offense. That is why they wanted Swaggy. They need a legit 6th man. I think Beasley makes a lot of sense in that spot.

Butttt Boogie and Beasley could be a lot. Though I would say the same about Swaggy and Boogie.

Thanks for the reply.

I appreciate you explaining the rationale.

You all think Terrence Jones would come crawling back here to provide depth? I don't think too many teams are interested in him at this point.

Was wondering the same. He was solid as a reserve and occasional starter last year.

Pels could do a lot worse than T Jones...

Rondo and Lawson also still out there. Could possibly get one on minimum type deal since most of the FA money is drying up.

Rather Rondo but I think he has more teams interested in him than Lawson.

Is Uncle Al waiting on Ian Clark? Could we afford him?

Wonder what his price would be this late in free agency.

By my count we have about $6 million before we hit the tax and 2 roster spots available. In theory we want to add a PG, a wing shooter and bring back Cunningham but can only do 2 of those. So what gives?
